I thought a decision was supposed to be made last friday? whats the dealo? Is he signing or not?

FWIW, that "terrible" Sweden team just beat a Mexico squad which featured all of their A-Teamers not in Europe. (Sanchez, Ochoa, Edgar Castillo, Fausto Pinto, Pavel Pardo, Sinha)

And I agree with you replicant21, the first time I saw him I thought he was terrible. The second time I strait-up wanted us to give up on him... but he's gotten astronomically better in the last two years. One week with Celtic and he scores a hat-trick. I think $2.5 would be a fair price.

And McNaka's very patriotic, just not for the same country as us.

Ives is reporting that the deal is dead. We didn't want to pay $3.5 mil + follow up clauses so it's off. For that money, I think we made the right decision. MLS is in an interesting position in that none of the owners really need any money so we would have had to pay more. Oh well.

Ives isn't the most reputable, but it's not exactly like he's NoTW or anything like that so I don't want people thinking he's a tabloid writer. Just someone who generally doesn't know what he's talking about. His opinion pieces are *-awful.

 

This sucks........ I wanted him.. I know my American brothers will argue with me but I see the potential in him. Anyways, regardless of this move........Celtic needs an American if for nothing else to reflect the support. Nothing * me off more than the hun * flying American flags at their matches, * them!!!!

You know what I mean....we had a run at Guzan last year, he is not only going to be the next American keeper but is the heir apparent at Villa. We need to pull the trigger on some of these guys.

I think that's a good decision. Depending on exchange rates, I could have dealt with $2.5m (though I think the pound has lost value to the dollar in the past couple of months ? In which case I wouldn't cope as well...) but $3.5m+ additions is just crazy talk. We're not Fulham...

As for my "patriotism"... that's got nothing to do with it. I've slated Mizuno on here and stated I was very skeptical of him making any impression -- I am still skeptical that he'll ever be more than a "super-sub." That deal was still good, however, because he came on a bosman. If we were talking about signing Mizuno for $3.5m... I'd be only slightly less negative than I am about Kljestan... and only because I think he's excellent in at least 1 skill (running all day up and down the touchline sending crosses in.)
On the other hand I'd jump at Edu and I've praised him quite a bit even when he signed for the huns... unfortunately they got him. I would have killed to have Guzan as well, but it didn't work out... and I'm pleased to have Cervi instead.
This has nothing to do with where anyone is from -- it has everything to do with the fact that I do not rate Sacha at all.

FYP. We've got a trillion midfielders... I don't think he'd even make the bench.

 

shame that whoever has say over his price tag killed the move by inflating the price in the recession. Dissappointed but what can be done?

 

Saw the highlights of the USA - Italy game yesterday, this guy looked not too bad. I see why interest would have been there, and judging from some of his play, could have worked out well. Obviously he'd have to adjust to the game still.
