Possibly that or changing circumstances with us having no Jota and Rodgers having a gameplan with him makes us a more attractive option to stay and develop with than before.

It’s probably a mixture of them.

Excellent news, now Hatate and we’re set. Just be a new LB and a GK if we’re going to do it right.

Celtic are delighted to announce that Liel Abadahas signed a new four-year deal which will see him remain at the club until the summer of 2027.

The 21-year-old Israeli internationalist has been an impressive performer for the Hoops since joining the club back in July 2021 from Maccabi Petah Tikva.

He made his competitive debut for the Hoops in a UEFA Champions League qualifier against Danish side, FC Midtjylland, and he marked the occasion with a goal.

Since then he’s gone on to make 105 appearances for Celtic, scoring 29 goals, the most recent coming in the 3-1 win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie last month.

He’s also won five trophies with the club, including last season’s historic Treble, while he was also voted PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year in his first season.

Speaking to Celtic TV, Liel Abada said: “I’m really happy to sign the new contract.

'Celtic is a big club with big fans and I love the club.'

Now we have a target for this season and we’re looking forward. The most important thing for me is to improve every day and in every game. I want to get better for the team to achieve our targets.

Every time I score for this club is really amazing. To score in Celtic Park is always special and the atmosphere is amazing.

"Hopefully I can show more this season for everyone and I will try and get better for the team.

“Every time you play at a club like Celtic you have a lot of great players and a lot of competition.

'For me, the most important thing is to work hard every day and gain experience from the staff and improve for the team

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers said: “I am delighted that Liel has extended his contract with the Club.

“We know there was significant interest in Liel from other clubs so we’re delighted that he has committed his future to Celtic.

“Already he has made a great contribution to Celtic, delivering some great performances and making a real impact. His energy and ability are real assets to us and his delivery in terms of goals and assists from wide areas has been excellent.

“He is a fantastic young player and now we hope he can build on what he has achieved so far and develop even further.

Considering they know that this opinion is always levelled at things like this at this time of year, I don’t think that’d be true.

Or else they’re dafter than I’d think, because if you were doing this, and manage for it not to leak like everything does these days…. You’d announce it Saturday night/Sunday morning to add a wee buzz before the game.

I'm not his biggest fan when he plays as a traditional winger but there's no doubting his contribution in terms of goals. Good news and hopefully he continues to smash them in.

He'll probably be off in a year anyway, with 3 years left to still run then we'll be in about as strong a position as we can be.

Was it not reported that he’d agreed terms and would sign again? Rather than signed then and there, 2 days to get it done after that with the legalities isn’t farfetched.

    Delighted.

    He's been class.

As we treat him like an experienced player, you forget that he's still so young.
