Liel Abada

A lot of people ask who the target is if Edwards leaves... The main name mentioned is Liel Abada, a 21-year-old right winger for Celtic.

 

If we kept Jota and signed Palma with Yang I'd have happily punted him..

Scores goals but another player that's so limited..

 

I'd want to keep him if possible, but for the right price we should be open to him leaving.. especially if it means we can bring more quality in.

Need to put a high sell on fee for this sort of deal too, could work similarly to Frimpong in that he goes for a huge amount after leaving us.

 

Offers more than Forrest at this point. Also a hunskelper, when on form. He's had the better of Barisic more than once.

 

Offering more than Forrest at this moment in time should never be a benchmark for one of our wingers.

He’s so limited technically, which is why he and Maeda should never start games together unless absolutely necessary, will just never work if both our starting wingers can’t beat a man or cross a ball to save their lives.

At this point I certainly wouldn’t be rushing him out the door but he shouldn’t be our first choice right winger either.

Can’t see him starting at the weekend either, think Maeda is a shoe in for a game away to the huns so Abada has to be on the bench, that’s despite the fact he has roasted that diddy barasic a number of times.

 

I'm wondering why we don't give Vata a chance from the bench either? He should have had a couple of assists in his cameos last season.

 

Abada never a starter in a big game for me, too much a luxury player, not good at tracking back.

He hasn't started the season well, but tbh most of the team haven't.

Shows fantastic commitment, hopefully he kicks on.

 

Liel Abada to sign new Celtic mega contract and hand champions major boost

Celtic are set to seal a new long-term deal for Liel Abada.

The Israeli international currently has a contract until 2026 but that is set to be improved and extended before the end of the week. Record Sport broke the story earlier this month that the Scottish champions were set to open talks with Abada and Reo Hatate. Abada will be the first deal over the line.

The Celtic hierarchy have been in discussions over the last week and are close to sealing a new deal with the winger. The 21-year-old has been a revelation since Celtic signed him from Maccabi Petah Tikva in 2019, with his goals and assists. It is a major boost for Brendan Rodgers to get another one of the club’s major assets to commit to the club. Rodgers is set to make Abada a more central figure as he wasn’t given the same assurances under Ange Postecoglou

Kyogo Furuhashi, Daizen Maeda and captain Callum McGregor all committed to major deals over the summer. Celtic are still in talks with Reo Hatate and they are confident that the Japanese star will also commit in the near future. Hatate turned down the first offer but remains in talks and an extension beyond 2026 is also expected to be reached.

Hopefully he kicks on but I'm not a huge fan of him as a player. Needs to work on most aspects of his game to be a consistently good player.

Not been at it so far this season but hopefully he can settle now that his future is sorted and focus on improving. But potential this boy but I feel like he has to start showing signs of progress over the next few months if he wants to hit the heights.

 

Excellent news, still only 21 and even though he hasn’t started the season on form it will come.

I'm nowhere near as high on his supply as many seem to be. I think he offers very little in games where we need people to stand up. In easy games he pads stats like a *. Look at his defensive stats in that post above - 0% on everything - I mean how is that even possible??
