Generally when they prove themselves, I think you'll find that Lennon had * all to do with Frimpong, O'Connell, Afolabi etc, if it doesn't eat into the managers transfer budget and they're not being signed for the first team then it's generally down to the youth scouts and head of recruitment. If it's a young player signing like Dembele or Edouard who have a reputation or will cost money then the manager will get involved.

Interesting. See, I would have thought that a 19 y.o from Sheff Wed, whilst not 1st team ready, would at least be on periphery of 1st team squad, hence our manager would be involved in the signing. Just goes to show the actual importance of a role like Hammonds, another position we must get right....

Not only that but they need to be given a chance to succeed. Is it just a coincidence that Karamoko and Oko-Flex have stagnated due to a manager that wasn't interested in youth development?

Connell is one, I think, could have made an impact this season but again didn't get his chance

Sheffield Wednesday can confirm that midfielder Liam Shaw has signed a pre-contract agreement with Scottish Premiership side Celtic.

We are currently investigating this matter and will consider if there are any further steps available to protect the club’s interest.

It was not our intention to place this development into the public domain out of respect to all parties concerned.

However, we were contacted by Celtic informing the club of their intention to formally confirm this development, which was revealed by the former Celtic manager in a media briefing.

Both clubs exchanged statements in advance of a coordinated release but Celtic have since ceased correspondence to this end.

Shaw remains a Sheffield Wednesday player until the expiry of his current contract and will be available for selection for the remainder of the season.

We will make no further comment at this time.

They are getting it tight from their own fans because they never offered him a new deal until after we had been in contact with him

My guess is that it is empty words to convince their fans they were cheated out of a player rather than the player wanting off.
If Sheffield Wednesday didn't offer him a contract by a certain point it could be they get nothing as they have to offer a contract at the minimum of the current pay (I think anyway)

Who knows what’s going on anymore. Seems everything we’re involved in is a riot right now.

Thank * Lawwell is on his way out the door before he can do more damage.

Happy with this, seems well rated, hopefully we get Kyle Joseph from Wigan done as well.

That's one in the door anyway. As said, a start..

So the positives without watching him live before are he's quite mobile? Versatile midfielder that can play at the back? Lot's of potential?

Looks a big boy who can mix it, sometimes playing on the edge though that he might have to curb..

    Welcome..

I know * all about him, literally nothing.
Bar his age and this description.

Surely to * that's enough to suggest that brown won't be renewed then? Sounds like the sort of midfielder that would automatically take/challenge with soro for that holding mid role?

Overall, happy to see effort to get things done quick. But still baffles the mind we are making deals without a DoF or a manager.

Normally folk would assume a guy's been lined up and his giving the nod to these things, but this is Celtic. When have we ever done thing sensibly?

if you look at the big name managers weve had they get to spend a considerable amount for us 20m to 30m and it really is mostly spent on 5 or 6 signings and thats kind of it thats how they leave after a few years cause the board stops spending money and a big name talented manager wont risk his reputation whilst being neutered by lawell and the board

im not unhappy at buying up young promising players but will they get a chance at celtic a realistic chance weve not been very good with young players in recent years on in the past

wondering if this guy is a first team signing or another project, project sounds about right cause we never spent much and have no manager that has picked him for his team and how he wants celtic to play
