Wasn't actually a deliberate omission by me there, I just forgot about him, he can go though, but if he wants to stay then he best up his game

 

Bump!!!! Considering the way Ange I'd imagine wants his CBs to be (mobile/technically good) and the fact he has played plenty at CB with Wednesday maybe we worth having a look at him at CB considering we are a bit tight there and it's difficult to see him imminently getting into that midfield

Hate the idea of playing people out of positions, if you want cbs buy cbs not cm’s to play cb, I know in some cases it can work out but usually they’re too inexperienced at a new position and it comes back to bite us more often than not. I wanted to see him feature more but the midfield is solid now so he will struggle to get games

 

Agree with you regarding positions. I just think he could just as easily be considered a CB that can play CDM. He played half his starts from CB last season

I didn’t know that tbh. If it’s a position he’s played at and comfortable in them could possibly be tried there but tbh would just much prefer an out and out cb. Then we would have Jullien Welsh starfelt and another cb challenging for their place

 

Verdict within the club: mince

Shaw and Urhogide are several levels below where they hoped they’d be. They’re seen as being below existing development squad players such as Connell, McInroy, Murray. They’re a lot more positive on Lawal, and he is more likely to make the step up.

Unlikely to feature at first team level this season.

 

From the friendlies and seeing Lawal in a few games for the B team I concur with that opinion. Shaw looks nowhere near ready to play regularly for us in the middle.

It's a weird one with some of these guys, coming from playing regular games for clubs like Birmingham, Wednesday etc, you would think Connell, Shaw etc would be in and around the first team training and bursting at the seems to be on the bench and getting game time.

But seems they really do need a season or two at an even lower level than where they came from.
Begs the question - how * poor is the leagues down south then? Quite bad I am sure, nowhere near the level the media big them up to be. But interesting.

I seen Lawal has been playing at CB for the colts? He was a CM at watford, no?

Id like to see him stay at defensive mid. I can see a pathway for him into the team there. Think we should be looking to loan him to SPL/Championship

They’ve been at the club for 2/3 months tops. They needed to be assessed I guess. Let’s see how many first team squads they make going forward

 

I feel like Connell really isn’t rated as well, but always seems to be mentioned.
