If he comes good, Jullien stays fit and ccv also comes good, we could add some good height and power to our defence which has been lacking for years.

Actually warming more and more to the prospect here.

Clearly I have NEVER seen the lad play, other than YT reels.
But the initial "aww for * sake, a Dodgy Desmond Deal again", has reasonably turned in to a "* it, the lad could do a turn here and surprise us" attitude.

Initially I was concerned at being 22 and having never been snapped up by an English club (a fair few have a hand in the Irish league and tend to snap up decent talent at a younger age than this), but you realise he was actually playing for his Uni club during most his League of Ireland days and only in the last 12-18months broke in to the Rovers team. Explains why he wasn't snapped up sooner and perhaps the Desmond connection for once is truly in our favour (shouldn't we be making this an official club affiliation of some kind?).
Taking the number 5 shirt as well, a positive sign of intent, surely.
You would be forgiven for thinking if he took a 56 number or something, that he would be signed for the Colts team and deemed a project to be seen in a couple of years (if ever), but taking a 1-11 number tends to suggest the manager (and player) have faith in him being part of the match day squad, if not starting 11.
Then he is getting the call up, clearly has impressed enough before his time here (that it isn't simply a Desmond favour), so bodes well that he should be ready to hit the ground running.

Excited for this new start that Scales is sure to be a big part in now.

He went on trial at Man City and Bristol Rovers while still playing for UCD. Bristol deal fell through very last minute. Then he signed with Shamrock Rovers.

He definitely falls into the category of a late developer. I’m really hopeful that he’ll make the step up.

Agree on the squad number point, shows a fair degree of confidence in the lad

Sometimes a late developer is better, a lot of guys that came through football systems have a lot of things coached out of them that good be highly positive, a bit of spontaneity is required at times.

Surprised Soro didn’t clatter in to the back of him, give away a foul and pick up a yellow.

It is my understanding that he had a couple of opportunities to go over to England but did his education instead. I have no doubt if he didn't come to Celtic an English club would have come in for him before the deadline. I believe that Brentford were also interested. In my opinion he is better than Taylor, he is better at going forward and is more physically imposing in defence.

No decent clips of big Scalesy or is it all just individual highlights of goals ?
