Solid showing again, definitely would like to keep him.

 

Never a LB LCB is his position all day long can see it comfortable there

 

One mistake near the end that looked like the manager was shaking his head at but he was good again..

Is he good enough for us long term? Probably no but I actually don't mind him. Is decent on the ball and can play centre half or left back..

He * all over Kobayashi..

 

Yes I totally agree that’s his best position, but played at left back we’d have a very imposing back four.

Yeah. I get the feeling BR would like to keep him in the squad but Scales obviously wants to play and would get that at Aberdeen

 

Would he want to leave for the sheep if he was 4th choice here?

He will wanna go where he'll get game time whether that's the sheep or another team. BR more or less said it was up to the player if he stayed or went

 

If I'm Scales under a new manager then I'm trying to stay and impress....hopefully getting minutes if there's any injuries or that..

He won't get more money moving to the sheep either or anywhere else infact..

 

Thing is he could of stayed at his old club in Ireland if all he wanted was game time, i reckon he’ll want to stay

 

He’s done well again tonight, and as a fellow-Paddy I’m glad to see it, but he’s only going to be 4th/5th choice tbf. If he’s happy with that, then, no harm keeping him.

 

Having a left footed defensive utility player is very handy for the squad. He can play as CB, LB or in a back 3. And I think he'd be better as a traditional LB than an inverted LB. Rodgers will like that flexibility - gives more options to change formations.

At 24 he's likely got some improvement left in him. So what areas of his game does he need to improve?

 

I actually think he was shaking his head at Bernabei getting done with the 1-2 straight after it but may have been a bit of both.

Certainly looks comfortable on the ball and being left footed is a bonus.

Miles ahead of kobiyashi

 

Hard to argue punting him unless we bring in another defender based off of his preseason.

He's better than Welsh and Kobayashi.

I'd much rather see Scales being given game time domestically over those two.

 

He's fine for 4th choice. Welsh and Yuki out.

 

I though Welsh being homegrown would have gave him the edge over him but think it was telling that he played ahead of a Welsh tonight.

 

I would be happy to run with him as 4th choice CB, a low dollar option too,
