  1. Think that's an accusation that you could make of most of the squad, with only a few exceptions.

  2. Celtic central defender Liam Scales has named the five players he'd have in his five-a-side team.

The Irishman has emerged as a first-team regular at Parkhead over the past two seasons.

Scales played 39 times in the campaign gone by as his side secured a domestic double.

Recently appearing on 'Jack's Tee Time Talks' YouTube channel, he named his dream five-a-side team made up of several current and former Celts.

I would have Callum McGregor in there," said Scales. "Kyogo. Goals. Oh, Joe Hart (in goal).

"And then big Cam, Carter-Vickers (at the back). Just a beast. That gives me one more? I am going to go with a winger and James Forrest. A brilliant five-a-side player. Top player."

Scales has made three shy of 100 Celtic appearances since joining the club from Shamrock Rovers four years ago

  3. Watched that last night. Right handed when it comes to the auld golf.

That guy presenting it was a tough listen.

  4. I really really really don't want him as one of the two first choice centre halfs this season. Fine as a backup, that's about it.

  5. Hopefully jumps up a level same as he did this time last season. Superb option to have around the place, his forward passing especially is improving all the time.

    First choice LCB for me.

  6. If he is the best we do in that position to partner CCV then I'll despair.

  7. So slow with balls in behind..

  8. That’s the one that stands out for me he is painfully slow for a team that plays a high line. He also takes too long in possession to move the ball on.

It won’t happen but over the course of this season we should be looking to move on all the centre backs except CCV.

  9. I'm quite happy to see Scales stay as decent back up. But Trusty needs to go, the heart of a mouse.

If we get someone like that French guy Youte in as first pick, then it changes the whole dynamic again.

  10. He's definitely worth keeping around and is far more likely to be comfortable as back up. But yeah, neither Trusty or Scales are good enough.

  11. A perfect 3/4 choice center half. Shouldn't be in the starting 11 of a full strength Celtic team

  12. He's the perfect example of "horses for courses". If we're going to be pinned back and defend our box for most of the game (e.g. Atalanta away), then he's easily good enough to be our first choice LCB. If we're going to play a high line against fast strikers (e.g. Aberdeen), he isn't.

  13. State of this, 3 absolute clowns all holding each other's * cos a poster dares to pipe up in support of a player he likes. Book inducing man :56:

  14. The fact he's about to hit 100 appearances for us, with probably about three quarters as a starter, is a farce.

Got Ralston nearly due for a testimonial. Yang with 65 appearances. Welsh on his third contract at the club. Johnny Kenny about to sign a new deal.

    Lord almighty.

  15. It's called being part of a squad. All the players you name might be replaceable or better out there but they aren't in our squad.

Not every player in our squad is going to be both our best in position or the number 1 to replace. We have other priorities and the only player in those you've named we've paid real money for is Yang. Upgrading them all is likely +10m minimum

  16. Scales is arguably the number 1 to replace in our team. Him and a winger. He’s absolutely mince and yet has started most games since Rodgers has come back. He’s not simply part of the squad. He’s a starter.

The point remains, a guy of his ability should never be playing 100 games for us when we can quite easily spend the money on a massive upgrade.

  17. We have tried to upgrade on Scales and are likely still trying.

  18. Can we no just sign the Americans that keep CCV out the team? They must be utterly brilliant.

One of them is a 37y old lad playing for Charlotte. The other is at Crystal Palace.
