Aye as * as he was in the cup semi he was massive for us holding onto the 3 points at Dundee, made a huge clearance in the last few mins when the Dundee forward looked favourite for it.

No problem with giving him a new deal.

As long as he's not first choice

CCV now needs to play as a partnership, last 2 games he’s tried to do everything and it’s been uncharacteristically made him shaky, and Scales is covering him at times because of it. Needs to be a settled partnership now

Agreed. Also need the midfield to be more available, Scales dallying on the ball is poor but not always down to him hesitating, a lot of the time no * is making space to receive. An all round cohesive unit will help everyone.

Been making this point all season. Our midfield leave him high and dry all the time. Plus when he gets passes away it comes straight back as we don't have players who can make their own space to move it forward again. Then Scales has to eventually play a pass that has a high element of risk to it, or hang on and get further criticism.

Sort of feel in these cases he should just go long and see what Kyogo can do with it, but obviously not allowed to do that by Rodgers.

Aye it seems to be all about whatever system it is we're supposed to be playing. Rodgers is gonna have to put a major graft in over the summer to tweak things, it's not just about bringing in better players.

One thing in the Dundee game, I can’t remember a misplaced pass until Forrest came off. Who was constantly in a position to take the ball.

Don’t disagree with any of that mate. No Scales and we wouldn’t be in the driving seat for the league right now. That’s just a fact.

Looking objectively at the situation though, do you think he’s good enough for Celtic going forward? The Celtic you want to see develop, not the Celtic we see in front of us getting battered by Dundee for large periods and scraping a win.

If he was homegrown, no arguments. He’s here til he retires. Not being homegrown though we need 3 quality CB options with Welsh and another possible youth player imo. If Scales is fancied over Nawrocki, we need to sign 2 new centre backs in summer for me. Signing Scales makes me think we will only be eyeing up one CB which is worrying.

Accept people saying fine as long as he's not first choice.

Bit that's part of the issue. I don't trust this club to still not have him as first choice next season :56:

He won’t be first choice but I’m not happy that he’ll be first backup. One injury and he’s starting for us in the CL again (if we get there). Don’t get me wrong he was immense there this year but let’s not pretend it’s a good sign if he is lining up for us against Real Madrid.

I don't understand this attitude: I honestly think he's very attractive. Am I the only one?

Yeah I'm on record saying Scales was our second best player up until the winter break. He's been largely poor since though.

I think a lot of people are dismissive of how much he put in earlier, for a relatively inexperienced player under serious pressure, and that he's only dropped off that as the wear and tear of playing every 3 days wore him down...

He's far from perfect, but he's definitely not deserving of the slating he's been getting of late, as a lot of the fans bottle cracked and they went looking for scapegoats...

He earned the contract and the chance, he's operated very professionally on/off the pitch, everyone that speaks of him does so highly... No problem with supporting his new contract at all, but hope we give him proper players around him to develop alongside, and smooth out his rough edges and deficiencies

They tried to target that side of the defence and he and others stoop up well.
