Harsh but, in all honesty yes. We've missed out in progressing as a club on and off the field. Again. We can do so much better than we are is were I am at.

Definitely won't be a failure if we do the double..

But, it as you say it needs to be much much better, mainly in how we are run as a football club.

It depends how you look at it..

Every season our aim and number one priority should be to retain the league especially with the CL money. We have literally one club that's a basket case to finish ahead of. It should not be as difficult as we've made it this season but if we win it then yes, a success I suppose domestically.

Every season regarding Europe we should be at least aiming to compete and improve, this has been pretty much an utter failure for 20 years. We are stuck in a constant loop of failure.

Player recruitment...This season has been an utter failure.

Depends what you want from Celtic. Stay ahead of an utterly pathetic hun outfit.. yes a successful season. You want Celtic to progress as a club, an utter failure of a season again

The January window was weird as *, since we knew we were understrength and struggled the first half of the season.

Yet we never really tried to improve at all, let Johnston go and brought in Kuhn and Idah. You'd think if Rodgers was staying he'd have wanted 3/4/5 guys signed to keep building his squad to be better and better every season.

Like we deliberatley hampered ourselves in a season we were playing as bad as ever outside covid.

Sure. We've squandered a prime chance to improve in a lot of ways is my main reason it being a failure. Failures across the club for me, separate to the main competitions are the most disappointing.

If we win the league and cup a lot of that is down to how poor the Huns have been. If we had progressed in other ways fine, but we haven't.

It's the worst season of the League ever for me and by some distance, feels like almost everyone in the League got worse than last season, maybe except St Mirren and Kilmarnock but even Hearts in 3rd I felt were better last season, they lost Ginnelly who was probably their best player against us.

10 out the 12 teams getting worse from last season to this must be the biggest drop off ever.

Aww we absolutely can do more to progress as a club. That goes higher up the totem pole than Rodgers though. The fact is, a double is still a successful season in terms of silverware. Otherwise we’ve had a * load of failures in our time as a club.

I was being more general than Rodgers in my last comments, but yeh to me he's been part of the failure.

I agree we havnt progressed as a club this season so I that sense it's a failure but a double is still a success.

Lack of progress is only partly on the manager. Board have regressed back to their old ways, we all know why. So in thag sense the chances of making progress was always unlikely due to the dreadful transfer windows and lack of ambition shown at higher level so in thag sense he's been working with his hands tied.
However for a manager of his experience and track record the style of play that's generally been served up had been pish so he had too share blame for that bcoz we still have players good enough to be performing at a far higher and more attractive style

I was meaning in terms of silverware mate. A double can never be seen as a failure surely.

What I noticed a few times on Sat was Taylor and McGregor having a go at him. Taylor especially wasn't holding back.

Think his level has been reached and he's been targeted a lot of this long season. Think fans and Scales himself will be glad when its done.

Mentioned this yesterday on a thread but there's a genuine lack of leaders in the squad. People who can grab the game by the scruff of the neck and put us at ease and get us over the finishing line. Someone who who'd settle the situation where we'd not concede a 3 against the huns or goals against Aberdeen in stoppage.

Aye but Taylor's got some cheek..

McGregor's right hand man and one of the supposed seniors of the group yet didn't exactly cover his self in glory at their goals. Shat out of taking a penalty as well the inverted comfortable centre mid :87:

I think we could get a consensus that the January windowwe just had was insufficient. Not the worst ever; but definitely far below what was needed. It still might end up costing us the league (hopefully not!). However, what is most shocking to me is that not one single player from the previous 2 windows (Summer 2023 and January 2023) gets in our strongest team. In those 2 windows, we lost Giakoumakis, Juranovic, Jota, Mooy and Starfelt; but we didn't sign a single player who makes our current strongest team.

I would say someone should be sacked for those 2 windows, but it's clear that Dudgeon and Lawwell Jnr were in all but name.

No your right, Taylor was poor also. Left hamdside of the pitch is a big concern. Maeda a miss and I knew I missed someone out. Starfelt. You don't what you miss till its gone.

Outfield players not taking penalties...don't start me. Raging wi that.

People had such low expectations of him that when he was decent they thought he was amazing.

Cannot be our main partner for CCV. Another who's not a bad squad player but certainly not the answer.

For me he's a steady enough player but he should be 4th choice minimum.

Does ok in the air, defends ok, doesn't really get tore apart.

But overall he's not not fast enough, dominant enough or clever enough on the ball to be seen as first choice for us or even 3rd.

For me we need a Starfelt or Boyata beside CCV, someone with more pace who excels at chasing back and taking the ball off guys without any fuss or panic and even covering wide areas. Then you'd prefer a Kelvin Wilson type as your back up who could cover either first choice defender well without losing much of the qualities they have, then Welsh and Scales incase they're all injured then they'd be fine in an emergency.

Scales when you think of it is the new Bitton, he's fine there now and again but he shoudn't be playing every week when everyone else is fit which is whats going on the now.

I didn't see the first half; but I thought he was good in the second. That header from that long throw at the end was majestic.
