I know. I'm just after asking a very similar question in another thread. I hadn't read your post at that point, though.

He's nothing like as good as Starfelt; but he's been better than anyone else other than CCV. There's a massive drop off from CCV to anyone else now. I want better than Scales, but he's done alright. It is a blow to have him missing.

I definitely feel more comfortable with Scales than with Nawrocki. I still can't get over Nawrocki's complete failure 1-on-1 against Miovski in the Aberdeen game. Realistically, I have to accept that from a Celtic CB isolated against a good CL striker like Immobile or Griezman and I can just about forgive it against one of the better Hun strikers/wingers; but it's just not acceptable against a domestic SPL striker.

Scales has had his errors domestically and all our players have been done a few times in the CL; but I don't remember any SPL strikers bending him over.

Probably goes straight back in for me..

He's far more natural on the left than Welsh or Nawrocki...

But, Nawrocki has maybe a higher ceiling in terms of calibre, so will be interesting to see who BR goes with.

I think if it was a league game then Scales would come straight back in but with it being the cup, he may decide to stick with Nawrocki.

A lot of folk keep saying this style of thing when it comes to Nawrocki, what’s it actually based on? Feels more hopeful to me. I liked him his first showings, but first couple of games Kobayashi had next to CCvV I liked him too. Not seen much since then the glimpses we’ve had, but he doesn’t look a guy that’s confident at all in they showings as well. Got through games like his return off the bench against the Huns through grit, rather than cool and collected defending. Which I like as well tbf.

His showing at Aberdeen might have soured me far too much on him because I need to remind myself not to be harsh on him, we haven’t seen him with a run of games in a settled defence (when we’re comparing to Scales, that’s a similar thing with him really). I hope to * there’s a lot in him that we’ll see next season after a pre-season and hopefully, surely, a less chaotic season in terms of personnel at the back.

But I’m withholding judgement on him at the moment, haven’t seen enough to properly judge, but I also haven’t seen anything that would automatically make me think he has a higher ‘glass ceiling’ in him.

Aye, its difficult to ascertain exactly how good Nawrocki is or will be.. he hasn't really had a run in the side..

But, he has shown good aspects to his game. Passing is good and concude and aggression in the tackle..

Nawrocki still young too, for CB 2yrs younger than Scales.. so I just see more room for development than Scales has.

Passing is the best thing I’ve seen about him, especially when you see that bit of confidence in him, he’s good there. The aggression in tackling was the grit bit I was talking about, when I think we’ve seen him at his best he was much better not needing to do that aggression, diving in, hopeful tackles. Him calm and collected and reading the game is when I’ve liked him most.

The grit and aggression got him through that Rangers game, also gave away two silly free kicks outside the box one which Tavernier put away and put us under major pressure. But that’s fine, he was just back after months out and he also had a backs to the wall determined performance afterwards.

Honestly, I don’t know what one is his natural game yet, the calm and collected side I think it is, thats what we seen first. And I want to see more of that side and improve on that. Youth doesn’t always mean more potential though, but I hope it can turn into that.

His performance at ibrox and tynecastle in the last month are more than enough reason for him not to go straight back in.

He has played a lot tho, his consistency has been really surprisingly good in general. Would be happy enough if he came back in but if Nawrocki keeps his place I'm good with that too. If Scales does come back in, probably tells us all we need to know. We need better than both in the summer.

Nawrocki might, judging by most of this season I expected Welsh rather than him in. So he’s doing something in training to move up the pecking order, didn’t do anything wrong against St Mirren to make BR doubt trusting him standing in there.

I’d be surprised if Scales doesn’t come back in when fit though, Rodgers has had him as the only trusted option most of the season. Can’t see him dropping him now, I imagine he’ll want to see a run with him and CCV, with Taylor on the left AJ on the right. He’s not had the 4 available for any length of time all year, and up until maybe Feb, Scales held that together for him. Then Hart was.

Rodgers is the type of manager that backs guys that have shown that for him.

Will be interesting to see what he Rodgers does, he also tends not to drop players who are playing well and Nawrocki was fine v St. Mirren..

Got to love TC, where you can have a debate at 5 on a Sat morning about Liam Scales:56:

Aye that’s part of my thinking he’ll come back in, guys who have came in for guys he’s shown are first choice, this year and last time here, and Leicester/Liverpool, he doesn’t take it into account and will bench them for the guys he’s consistently trusted.

Remember Sinclair while playing poor, got a knock, Eddy played left wing and done it very well (* to the day he left claimed he’s a left winger not striker due to it). Sinclair, out of form all year, came straight back in not even fully fit. ‘Favourites’ was one of the biggest criticisms even when he was peerless here his first time.

I think he likely will come back in and think regardless of who partners CCV between now and end of the season an upgrade on both of them is needed for next season.

I just felt Scales was a real issue v the huns and likely will be again at Parkhead and cup final but despite looking far better on the ball, there's no real certainty that Nawrocki won't also be an issue v them in a different way but I'd be up for him getting a run of 3 or 4 games next to CCV to see if he's then ready for that game.

I know Carter-Vickers had an uncharacteristic mare but this guy and Taylor on that left side..

Caught under it so often when only 1 man to pick up between them..

    Pitiful..

Needs to sit our the remaining games. Nawrocki offers so much more in the games I've seen him in.

    He's done..

Credit to him, his performances during the first half of the season were excellent, I couldn't believe how good he was against Atletico Madrid.

Since the turn of the year? He's been atrocious, costing us goals and barely contributing going forward. He looks worse than he did at Aberdeen last year.

I'm not against giving him a year extension on his contract, as he could be useful as a 4th choice, but no way can he start for us next year.

People blaming Taylor for this guys shocking performance , Taylor never had the best of game aswell but the positions the ball where put into is scales position, shouldn’t play any more of the games , nawrocki offered so much more with moving the ball forward also.
