Defensively he's good but nowhere near brave enough on the ball.

    Welsh is the same

As a back to the wall defender he's * great. As a play starter ala VVD bringing the ball out he's to slow. Good man.

I actually thought he was trying to move the ball forward more and a bit quicker today than normal.
Might not be saying much though.

And I thought he defended well. Him and Welsh both.

He stepped up and fill the jersey when we needed him. Arguably been out most consistent player this season. Should have a lot of credit in the bank from fans.

I actually think his reward for his form earlier in the season is that he's now held to a higher standard than he was.

To me he's suffering like most others from the general team wide dip in form. We can't get any momentum going.

Wasn't too impressed, thought Welsh was better.

Cant complain though he's been solid for us for some time.

    • Celtic have pushed the button on their bid bid to extend Liam Scales’ contract.

The Hoops have now opened discussions with the Republic of Ireland international, who is out of contract in the summer of 2025. Brendan Rodgers is looking to extend that agreement having been impressed with his fellow Irishman who has gone from the fringes to become a key man for Rodgers’ side this season. The manager said last month that contract talks had begun but Scales contradicted that a couple of weeks later by saying there had been nothing really in terms of discussions.

Celtic have now come to the table and want to sort out the 25-year-old’s long-term future. The Scottish champions signed him from Shamrock Rovers in 2021, and he had a successful loan at Aberdeen last season before a defensive crisis this season opened the door for him to get his big break at Celtic. He has also broken into the Republic of Ireland set-up and become one of Celtic’s first-choice defenders

Said when this first popped up after he had played 6/7 games at the start of the season that it was too early to justify but now after all the games he’s played I think this is a good idea. Him and Welsh would be decent 3rd and 4th choices moving forward and with our injury problems theyd get plenty of minutes.

Should be giving him a two year extension and a wage bump to reflect his importance in the squad. Not a new five year deal.

Yup. But of course it will be a 5 year. He will not be needed In a couple of seasons but will be picking up a wage not playing and that’s why we have such a bloated squad usually.

Well deserved to be fair, I do agree that it should really be something like a 2 year extension rather than a 5 year deal as we’ve shot ourself in the foot with some players but think scales will be here for a couple years anyway whether it’s 2nd choice cb or back up. If not I’m sure with how he’s performed this season he could definitely get a move. Happy he’s getting a new deal though I think he’s currently our lowest payed player that starts on like 5k a week whereas the likes of lagerbielke and nawrocki who he starts ahead of are on nearly 3 times that and maybe maik slightly more

Good to see him getting a bump. Do think we need to offload at least one of Lagerbiekle or Nowrocki in the summer. Neither has really done anything wrong but definitely not looking like they are ahead of anyone other than Kyobiashi.

Say it will be lagerbielke. Nawrocki is atleast featuring in games. Think he looks the better of the two aswell

I’m not really a fan but it would be difficult to argue against giving him an improved deal as he’s done a decent job overall this season. A 5 year deal would be too long imo.

Aye I really like him but agree with the above, 5 year deal would be a bit ott.

Give him a new 2 year deal with the option of an additional year would be good.
