One of the biggest problems for youth players here is that they are too light.
But if hjelde was told to put weight on but then not doing his own weight training and the likes then that would have been on him.
Think being told to lose a few kilos seems a little odd rather than balance your bmi with your size. The need to bulk up can still be achieved without being told to lose kilos..

Tbf I get why he did, we hindered Ajer no letting him move to Milan when we said we would let him go that season, he seen that and seen as saying 2 three season prove yourself then you can move on offering him a deal.

once again, waited too late to offer the deal, when we found him very promising, but hedged our bets too much to not give him the contract until he had other options. Before sending him out on loan, we should have gave him a deal and say to him we know you’re a player, go prove it this is the trust we have in ye.

 

Celtic will get a chunk of that due to being under 23

I can't blame Celtic on this one, he came in, got a loan in the premiership and wouldn't sign an extension. Celtic actually had a plan for him but he didn't want to be here. He thought he was Premier league level, which he wasn't.

 

Oh I'm not arguing against him leaving, that was beyond our control at that point, a real shame because he was looking good then. But for 2 million I think he'd be a good one for us at left back.

 

Did he not share an agent with Ajer? I am sure Celtic annoyed him with how they handled to sale of Ajer and broken promises. That was meant to have had a big hand on Hjelde not signing a new deal.

 

He was excellent at County..

Had major hopes for him..

He made a mistake leaving so soon for me as he'd have been a first team starter by now and played plenty near straight away at either left back or left centre half over the course of a season..

 

That was my thoughts too he would have got a chance under Ange to stake a claim. Montgomery, Welsh, the other young centre back whose name escapes me, all got games back there. Hjelde had more about him than Montgomery for sure and his potential was higher than Welsh.

We won’t but bringing him back would make a lot of sense at that price. He may even be eligible to be considered home grown given he was at us for a few seasons.
