We should buy at most only one more CM if we hope to attract Miller. I am also of the opinion that a GK is more important for us than a CM.

Yeah a goalkeeper is a priority that’s why I said spend big on one.

If we sell O’Riley we need more than one centre midfielder in. If Hatate stays it eases the burden but we have a lack of attacking threat and legs in our current centre midfield options. Miller doesn’t address the creative issues, possibly box to box.

To me this squad isn’t far away from needing Ange first season surgery.

Whatever we do in the transfer market must be tailored to the manager's demands and preferences, whoever that is. We are all assuming the next manager will be using a 3 man midfield, or that Rodgers will just stay. A hypothetical switch to 3-4-3 or 4-4-2 flips everything on its head, reducing the number of needed central midfielders. If we want Miller in, it can't come from the CEO- the manager has to want him and then fit him within his planned number of central midfielders. I personally have no issue with giving him a big role from the start, if he is as mature as it's been said of his play.

I don't watch any Scottish team other than us, but I do recognize that we need homegrown players.

Totally agree who the manager is the shape they play, type of football should be the guiding principle to how we recruit and where we spend money.

I guess my point is there is smart ways to make your money go further by snapping up a few what I believe are good players for us based on their characteristics, physical and technical attributes that we could do with. Also would fit within our wage structure and we have a realistic chance of landing.

On Miller specifically the manager has to want him. I think if Rodgers is the manager he would be keen but that’s just speculating. If we can sell Matt O’Riley to EPL or a big team on the continent it probably strengthens our sale to Miller, look what we did with Matt, we can do that for you.

Think he's going on a bosman.

    I think he's class.

I'd definitely be interested in him.

He’s not the most creative attacking midfielder but he is physical and good at timing runs into the box to get goals. He is also coming towards peak age and has a lot of experience of playing with young squads.

All those players I mention above are coming up for bosmans in the summer.

Serge Raux apparently Copenhagen had a look at him in January, he’s 6’5, left sided 24 year old centre back who is comfortable bringing the ball out from the back either dribbling or passing. Also a solid defender. Came through at Rennes who have a good academy but has been playing in Ligue 2 for Rodez.

Martin Frese at Nordsjaelland is another cracking full back great engine, always provides his winger with an overlapping or underlapping option. Not a big dribbler in terms of beating people but does have good running power and very good on the ball. Also good for a back post goal.

Sorry wrong thread for this sort of the stuff but I guess to link to Lennon Miller is we could easily buy him and bring in a De Wit for example as another more experienced option to play with him, rotate throughout what inevitably will be a long season now the winter break is gone.

I do think if we want to continue with McGregor as our anchor we need centre midfielders beyond him with good stamina and physical attributes and both Miller and De Wit fit that profile. So too might Lawal all be it yet to see how his form in league 1 translates to us. Tochi Chukwuani is another in that mould.

I would love to have some real physical but sound technical midfielders again.

Apparently the likes of Bournemouth and Villa looking at him. Hopefully were after enquiring and can sweeten a deal by offering him back on loan to them for next season. Would hate to miss out on this lad tbh

We can surely offer what those clubs can to a young lad. But we need to do it properly.

No * around with trying to negotiate at 100k intervals.
Just offer what he's worth, what these clubs would pay.
Then offer the lad a proper opportunity and pathway. Be that proper game time here or a fair loan back out (even back to Motherwell) and have him on our books.

Would be another McGinn or Lewis Ferguson.

    He's a must sign.

    Guarantee you he doesn't.

We don't try hard enough for these guys. For some we don't even try at all.

If premier league teams are in for him then we've probably missed the boat.

Should have been done in January

We really need to start scouting the SPFL a bit more robustly. Ferguson has went on to be a very good player in Italy. Others such as Doing and Hickey all escaped without us going near them. Lennon Miller looks like he has the attributes to be another good performer.

There is also a definite snobbery amongst fans who, for whatever reason, don't seem to think Scottish players at other SPFL clubs are good enough for us.

Fans opinion is utterly meaningless when it comes to who we sign though, it’s a separate point altogether really.

Strachan had no issues buying from Scotland. As with most things though there’s a balance to be struck, it just so happens we’ve not managed to hit the sweet spot yet but guys like Miller we should definitely be strongly looking at. He’s neither beyond us nor will he turn his nose up at the move for a move to an English Prem development side.

Wouldn't mind trying to get him in and Doig back over after his likely relegation from Serie A... could help with homegrown issues.

Whilst we haven't been officially linked it will still be hugely disappointing if we miss out on this one. Need to be first at the table when we have obvious talent playing Infront of us
