CELTIC could launch a fresh deadline-day bid for Motherwell starlet Lennon Miller.

SunSport understands the Hoops have already had an offer rejected for the 18-year-old this month

Italian side Udinese are also keen on the midfielder - but Well chiefs want over £4million.

Miller sat out the Fir Park clash between the sides today through an ankle injury.

But Celtic are now weighing up an improved offer for the talented midfielder ahead of Monday night’s deadline.

Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers is a big fan of the Scotland under-21 cap - who has been watched by every top Premier League club this season.

Serie A side Udinese recently had bids for Miller thrown out, with Well standing firm on their valuation.

The teenager is expected to be out for another month after suffering an ankle fracture in December.

Miller’s Motherwell contract runs for another 18 months - until the summer of 2026.

Fir Park CEO Brian Caldwell has made it clear the club are under no pressure to sell

Caldwell said two weeks ago: “To be bluntly truthful, we’ve had a couple of offers from a club who are miles away from that valuation of what we would deem Lennon Miller to be selling.

“We are not desperate to sell the player

We have always said from day one it’s got to be right for Lennon, it’s got to be right for the football club.

“We are not just going to accept any kind of offer for Lennon Miller.

I believe he’s statistically in the top seven players in the world for his age and in terms of midfield so he’s an exceptional talent, we all know that.

“If and when Lennon does leave it will be right for us and it will be right for Lennon at the right time.”

We paid 4.4m for Brown in 2007.

I'd say £4.5-5m for Miller 18 years later is fair.

Interesting that we've had a bid rejected earlier and it wasn't reported on

He'd be a very good signing.

I honestly think he'll be a top player in the future and one we will massively regret missing out on.

    Get him in Celtic.

The problem I see with him is development, he’s not going to be a first choice starter straight away and that will hamper his progression.

If there was a way we could buy him and keep him at Well for a season that’s what I’d be looking at but will we spend 4 million to do that? No so sure.

The video I put in here of some of his highlights you genuinely wouldn't know he was 18.

Players years ahead of his time. Working with mcgregor etc he'd come on massively.

I'd imagine he'd come here but the question would be how do we manage his development.

If we loan him out for the rest of the season and then bring him in for preseason, that would be brilliant. I feel he could be a very good Hatate replacement if he leaves in the Summer.

Not the finished product yet but can play anywhere in midfield and is incredibly technically gifted. Not super quick but is athletic and reminds me a bit of O’Riley.

His set piece delivery is incredible too. We need more Scots in the squad, and other than Doak, Miller is the best young Scottish talent.

    I agree.

The rumour is that he'd go back to Well and then out for next season.

It would be incredible if we did pay the money and do that. It's what a top club should be doing with young talent. And end of the day we got 4m minimum for Bernabei so if there's a way to use it, it'd be this.

That's 7.3M roughly in today's money. Interesting looking at fees like that from years ago.

I would love him to sign but he’d need to be loaned out straight away. He’d be on the same rung as McCowan in the pecking order atm and not really enough room for both. It’s a hard one because he looks a special player and if we don’t go for him and he heads of to England or Italy you know he will be getting quoted at £25m in a couple of years. Hatate will leave soon id think and once Engels properly establishes himself he’ll be off aswell in a couple of years. Definitely one we should go for but if he doesn’t get a loan he’ll rot on the sidelines fora year at least.

Buy him and get him in around the team and learning from McGregor. Not that keen to loan him out to be kicked around playing for Motherwell or Hibernian in 1-1 draws every week.

Rafael Scheidt's fee, adjusted for inflation, is about £9m today. :giggle1:

Signing him should also ease concerns about McGregor's successor.
