Looks a great prospect, should be buying him and loaning him back to Motherwell for a season. Sweeten the deal with sending one of our fringe players there on loan as well.

No harm in having both, likely be losing O’Reilly & Hatate in the summer and Holm not been near the team.

Maybe buying him and loaning them Kelly as well as letting them keep a hold of Miller for another season would be beneficial.

Can we though? More often and not when we buy a promising youngster in Scotland they’re an easy option to be left out instead of others. Right now everyone fit, Hatate, O’Riley, Iwata, Calmac, Bernardo it’s a difficult shout for a guarantee of first team football week in, week out.

O’Riley will leave in the summer, and we may not take up the option on Bernardo. In that case he definitely will be more often and not playing a part for us.

But then there’s the argument is he an adequate replacement for those left? I desperately want him, but guaranteed football isn’t something he’ll have here. For a team like Notts Forest, Luton if they stay up or more likely teams in Serie A who are all over Scottish Football for gems lately, he can play top flight for a weaker team in a much better league. We need to show him we’re the right choice to develop to sign here, we’ve not got the best reputation for that at the moment, Aaron Hickey knocked us back 2/3 times despite supporting us for that reason - and has been absolutely vindicated in his bold decision making there.

We need to pull out all the stops to make sure this boy knows that we regard him as being capable of being the future for us in the long run, but also absolutely something we need in the present as well. And we’ll support his development.

Good thing so far from what I’ve seen of him though, he’s already a fully fledged footballer, he’s a * rare youngster that doesn’t play like one and game just needs a refinement and to grow the aspects he’s already strong in. To improve on strengths already there.

Rare as * they sort of youngsters, Kieran Tierney is the only one I can think of off the top of my head. Matt O’Riley’s first half a season was that, but then last season while still being a class player faded in and out, and you remembered he was 21 and we were asking a lot of him, which he answered admirably in replacing Calmac, but he faded when he had to change his role back to his normal one again. And Mooy and Hatate took over. Then he learned what to improve on and made sure of it over the summer. So he probably doesn’t count in that sort of rare quality of a young inexperienced player, looking like he’s been doing it 3 times a week for years on end.

Can’t actually think of any other example than KT infact. That’s the rare quality that Lennon Miller looks like he has from watching him at Motherwell. Boy is * quality.

No comparison at the moment mate, Kelly might be able to kick on but Miller is younger, and has been a main man for Motherwell for over a year now.

And he’s not been fazed about coming up against us. Him being injured scuppered Motherwell’s good form and chances to be right up in European places this season. And he’s only 17.

Not something that Kelly would have an opportunity to reproduce at us that, it’d be 3/4 solid seasons, 200 odd games under his belt before he’d start having that effect for us.

    Completely agree.

We do need to show that we can offer first team football.

It's hard for us though Tbf. The best case we all want is to buy him and loan him to Motherwell. Will anything change for him? No. He'll still be at the same club, just on more money and will be moving to us afterwards where we may or may not loan him out again.

If he moves to Liverpool, he'll be playing regularly for their unders and will have a plan to break into the first team over time.

We need to move ASAP though and be more like Liverpool that actually offer first team football to their youngsters.

Or he could replace a Lewis Ferguson at Bolagna or something, when he gets his move to Inter, Juve or Milan who are all seriously interested in him.

Something like that as a young Scottish guy, looking at what Ferguson has done moving from Aberdeen, if I was a young player, focusing on a decision for whats best for my career (taking me being a Tim and would just want to be at Celtic out of it) there’d be zero question between the better option there. You’d go to the better league, you can make a better name performing there, under less pressure, and more likely to play. It’d be a no brainer.

Over the years we’ve not shown a strong history that we’re the club that will bring through talented youngsters and offer them that chance and support to develop. So we need to * pounce on it right now, before the summer and there’s others circling over him.

Aye, we need to show youngsters that we can be their next club.

We could always start with our own players... Kelly, for example.

That way others will think that it is actually feasible to get game time here.

I'm desperate for Miller. I think he looks outstanding already.

We were pointing at Calmac, Forrest and Tierney for that for maybe a decade there. Young foreign players we’ve absolutely got a track record and examples to point to, but within Scotland for the cream of the crop in our own country, we have to act quickly and decisively and dazzle them, pay them, and announce them quickly, because when it’s a scrap between other teams in probably better leagues and us, we have nothing to back up that it’s the place to be for young Scottish talent. Get Calmac and Taylor to talk to them and hope they don’t think deeper than they two

If Miller signs he shouldn’t have any worries about getting his chance. Turnbull got umpteen chances and Miller looks a much better prospect. Even compared to consensus, or at least my own expectations, when we first got Turnbull. Cal is getting older too.

    100%

We should be looking for a McGregor replacement and Miller has every chance to be that. I don't mean a like-for-like replacement. I mean as in McGregor was the Brown replacement that we needed. Different styles but imperative to making us tick.

Ideally, I want Kelly and Miller in our world class midfield for the next 15 years.

Not that I'm deluded or pressurising them or anything.

Buying Miller and loaning him and Kelly to Motherwell for a season would be outstanding buisness
Getting those 2 to play for a year together
And they couldn’t play when they played us but would strengthen Motherwell in games against our rivals

    win win win

We need to sign him, and we don’t need to wait until the window opens to act on it. We need to get in there before anycunt else.

    No * about.

Probably missed the boat on him..

Was clear we should've nailed him early doors as he's class and ridiculously composed..

Will come down here or abroad I reckon now..

Not yet missed for me mate, his injury for half the season and him coming back better the second half, leaves it with enough wiggle room we can steal an early attempt at getting him. But we can’t wait till summer and then do it.

No chance mate, he’s available to us and we won’t even have to break the bank to get him.

It would be a decent figure for a Scottish side but around about Turnbull fee.

    Agree with this.

I think there can be a misconception among some in the support that youngsters should just wait their turn, while being grateful to play here. Is isn’t the reality of football, and shouldn’t even be the attitude we want here. You players have starting roles at elite clubs in their teens. It isn’t even particularly rare.

Players have all the power. If they’ve real talent, they’ll want a clear pathway to the first team, and not a few token substitute appearances at best.

Depending on his contract that’s left, I think maybe more than that. More a Scott Brown fee, and possibly higher with add ons.

Scottish teams and the interest from leagues like Italy realising potential that’s in out market, guys like Ramsey from Aberdeen to Liverpool for a good fee based on potential. Its not teams accepting any bid now
