We need to maintain a quota of home-grown players, who better would you get for 2-5 million that is Scottish home grown?

We should be hoovering up the best home grown talent because we're * * at keeping the good ones coming through our academy.

I don't see us getting another Forrest or McGregor anytime soon.

Also, £5m isn’t much in the grand scheme of things anymore.. especially for young talents

The fact he’s 18 and already very good puts a premium on it, but also means he’s likely to be sold for a much higher fee in the future and has a high ceiling

I’d be happy for us to spend £5m+ on the best 18/19 year old players, a bit like that winger in Sweden too

Hope there's some truth to that rumour, reckon the boys destined for the top. With our midfield being stacked atm sending him back to M'well for 6months makes sense. Then a preseason with us and see where we go from there. Depending on player moves and how he shows up in preseason there could well be a spot for him in the summer.

If he's getting first team football down south or abroad, he'll be getting it here.

Or at least, he should be.

I do think with the amount of games we play in a season, he'd still get a substantial number of appearances. It'll be less than what he's getting at Motherwell though.

Something worth looking at with Lennon Miller is his profile this season and comparing it to Matt O’Riley’s first 6 months with us.

Matt O’Riley played one game more, played 12, 4 goals and 3 assists.

Lennon Miller played 11, 2 goals and 2 assists.

However, when you dig deeper chances created are within the same ball park given Miller plays for Motherwell vs O’Riley at Celtic.

Dribbling success, duel success rate, recoveries, possessions won in final third, crossing accuracy and dribbling success are all in the same realm with either of them being slightly better at one aspect over another.

O’Riley has a higher pass accuracy than Miller but again this could well be down to the difference in team styles, how opposition play against you and level of teammates.

Now I am not saying Miller becomes as good as O’Riley or anything like that but he is more than 2.5 years younger than when we signed O’Riley.

Why compare to O’Riley? Largely because they play a similar position, have similar build and stature (O’Riley is a bit taller), both have the limitation of not being the quickest and both were creative type players for their team. In addition, both seem to have their head screwed on beyond their years and have good versatility across the midfield positions that comes from their positional and spatial awareness.

It also can’t be forgotten that O’Riley had his breakout season at 22 going on 23 for us. If we got Miller now and loaned him back as suggested, he would be 19 just after the start of next season. So he could have two seasons with us by the time he reaches the age O’Riley was when he arrived at us.

Basically I think he would be a very good signing and a good use of some of our cash pile. We need to use him properly and I think finishing the season at Motherwell is a decent start to that.

The fact he is home grown makes it worth paying a bit higher for him. Get McGregor to take him under his wing, Rodgers and the coaching team to develop him and I think we could have a cracking player on our hands.

I think it’s a no brainer. He looks a real talent. It is a position where we are very strong, but a loan makes perfect sense.

Get it done in January.. no loans or anything allow him to be around the team and get some game time in a title winning team for run in etc. tell hatate he's got 6 months to perform to generate enough interest to allow him go in summer (assuming he wants to go). Let Bernardo move up to take hatate',s minutes let lennon take Bernardo's minutes..

    McGregor
    Engels
    Bernardo
    Mccowan
    Miller

His dad Lee, on one of his media appearances mentioned McGregor as someone Lennon looks up to or similar words to that effect.

I'd be getting McGregor involved in negotiations with Lennon Miller. Get him to go round the ground and Lennoxtown with Miller.

Obviously, he's nothing to do with the finances but I'd getting him in to talk about personal experiences of the club.

Tbh I'd be expecting McGregor to do this as part of his captain duties.

I'd be sensational at running the club.

Italy are seeing value in Scots players and wouldn't surprise me if some clubs from Series A are scouting him.

We have missed out on a few players in recent years and am sure the club will be looking at this one seriously. We need a core of Scottish players and Miller seems to tick all the right boxes. If Rodgers wants him in then it should be a done deal.

Makes so much sense to sign this lad and leave him at Motherwell.

Our midfield is McGregor, Bernardo, Engels, Mccowan and Hatatae.

I've listed them that way, because hatate at the end is the most likely not to be here after this season.
McGregor as our captain and one club man ain't leaving. Mccowan is just here and a home grown lad, again won't leave after one year.
Engels and Bernardo unlikely to leave after one permanent season as well.

So chances are, we go in to next season with a core 5, maybe 4 if Hatate leaves.
If Miller signs in January and we let him see out the season at Motherwell, he then comes to us in the summer with 5 in front of him for a 3 man midfield. That's not too bad, but if he/we want his development to continue as it is, we just loan him back out for one more season.
Alternatively, if Hatate leaves, that is a big position opened up which he would step in to.
As for development and game time at Celtic, getting Hatates minutes would be good.

It's also a sign, if we get miller, that our midfield options are all solid and generally not an area of the pitch we need to overly worry about for the next two seasons

Albeit, we need to sign a guy like miller to ensure in two seasons time we aren't chasing our arses to find replacements for Bernardo or Engels, or even McGregor.

Chase yersel. He’s the captain of a team currently strolling the CL. There’s no doubt we should have signed him.

"Chief Hammy, we've got a scout report on this fella Joao Merreir-"

    "Bring Him Home!"

"but Hammy, we've not even shown you the data, video reel or cost breakdown to sign him?"

"Sounds like a footballer, sign him. Oh, and get him in a balaclava for the photo shoot"

    "Yes, sir"

I think he's a cracking player with a lot of potential, I just don't see where he fits in our team. His glaring weakness is a lack of pace, and that is a key factor in the team BR is building for Europe.

So I am a bit conflicted, part of me wants us to sign him as he's Scottish and I think it's good for us and the the game up here if we buy more top young talent from other Scottish clubs, rather than us spending the money abroad. But I'm just not sure he'll make the impact most expect due to that lack of pace, which would be shown up even more in our team when he's directly compared to the rest of our players.

I can absolutely see The ragers spending £4 million on him they don't have though. They would try and structure the deal in such a way they pay a minimum now and hope to sell him for a huge profit in a year which would cover the cost and give them some spending money. He'd be a first choice player with them, compared to a bit part with us, and it'd be hard for him not to be a standout for them, so even they would struggle not to make reasonable money on him. As long as they don't try and hold out for O'Riley levels of cash for him, just because that's what we get, at least.

Long story short it wouldn't surprise me if he ends up there as we aren't actually that interested in him due to that aforementioned lack of pace, but it will be spun as some amazing coup they get him and will no doubt claim he "snubbed celtic" to sign for them.

No chance McGregor is exciting enough for a coffee. 100% he orders a tea with no sugar and hunnerz a milk.

I would be * seething if we let him go by us and he went there of all places, if we let this one slip, I hope it’d be too somewhere like Serie A or a team down south that he’ll get game time with.

He’s far too good for Rangers for me. He’s the biggest talent I’ve seen in Scotland (outwith our players like Kieran Tierney) since we signed Scott Brown. If £4m is the price, it’s a * steal for me.

£4 mil in the market now doesn’t even get you Cyriel dessers and that’s for an aged pro. If we miss out on miller it will be a monumental * up. He has more natural talent than John mcginn did at the point we wanted him.

as long as miller doesn’t go to a team he’ll waste away in the academy he’ll go far in the game.

Hatate leaves this summer, Miller can be the direct replacement for that missing midfielder. And Rodgers has already shown how much rotation he makes across that midfield this season.

Engels, Hatate, McGregor, Bernardo, Mccowan all getting enough game time
