I swear if we miss the boat with this kid, it’s going to make passing on John McGinn look more like losing out on Kyle Lafferty.

Some going way, way, way over the top on him. He’s not worth 6 or 8 million. Also, there’s not a single player in Scotland out with ourselves we couldn’t afford to buy, into the bargain. That includes Miller.

Would he be a good option at around the 4 million mark? Possibly. But even at that, there’s an element of punt within that because the majority of his development is still to come, he’s nowhere near a regular Celtic midfielder as things stand - he’s not better than McCowan who himself is arguably 5th choice.

Kid has it all in my opinion. Athletic, wins chalenges, technical in possession, great delivery, solid set pieces and end product. There's everything to like about him.

We are stacked in the midfield, it's true, but you could stick him out on loan for a season or two, he's only 18 and I bet there's plenty that would take him as a starter. Get him that experience then see where he stands.

£4-6m would do for me, he's a top prospect and that's what I'd say a top prospect outside the OF might be able to command in the market.

Not if he doesn't want to sign for us which him and dad have constantly said.

Also McGinn is overrated to *.

Motherwell will likely get more than we'd pay from an EPL side...

Difficult to know how he'll develop.

    More than likely.

Can honestly see a low end epl club spending the 6m or so and a wee 20% sell on fee for him, while leaving him at Motherwell for the season.
He will then do a preseason with said low end epl club and if he sparks, brilliant, if not he will be loaned to the English championship and off he will be. Season there and he will light it up.

Really think we've missed the boat with this lad.

The obvious deal to have signed him and loaned him straight back to Motherwell is long gone for us now. He's gonna have eyes on him and ambition way above us.

    https://thecelticstar.com/transfer-...n-motherwell-star-lennon-miller-in-5-3m-deal/

The Fitbaw Gospel account on Facebook always coms across as sensible and certainly not sensationalist so when they claim to have an exclusive story it’s worthy of a mention, especially when it all seems to make perfect sense.

They are saying that both Celtic and theRangers want to sign Motherwell’s teenage talent Lennon Miller in January and have supplied details on the valuations that both clubs appear to have for the player.

Apparently theRangers ceiling is £3.5m plus add-ons and they aren’t willing to go beyond that. This appears to be ‘inadequate’ as far as Motherwell position is concerned.

Meanwhile Celtic are apparently preparing a £5.3m bid for Lennon Miller with add-ons that could take the deal up to £6.5m depending on overall appearances, Champions League appearances and title wins. Celtic are also offering a substantial sell-on fee with The Fitbaw Gospel pointing out that Motherwell are well aware that Celtic have a much better record at achieving high transfer fees that the latest Ibrox club.

And there’s more, the Celtic deal will include a loan-back to Motherwell for six months so the player will be able to play for the Fir Park side all season but crucially Motherwell will receive the cash in January.

There’s a mention that Celtic are keen on getting this deal done before Premier League interest in the player grows, with both Liverpool and Newcastle quoted.

Motherwell’s valuation according to this account is around £8m but with Celtic offering a 20% sell-on clause and with the Parkhead club’s excellent track record, this deal appears to tick all the boxes. If this deal goes through then it will be the most expensive deal ever between two Scottish clubs, beating the £4.5m Celtic paid to Hibs when Scott Brown was signed

Celtic FC are set to blow Rangers FC (sic)out the water in the pursuit of Motherwell star Lennon Miller. Both of Glasgow’s big two are keen to sign the highly rated 18 year old.

Rangers have enquired about the midfielder but aren’t willing to go above £3.5m (+add ons), which Motherwell believe to be inadequate.

Celtic on the other hand are prepared to make the teenager the most expensive signing between two Scottish clubs OF ALL TIME.

The Hoops are preparing a £5.3m January bid (including add ons that could take it over £6.5m depending on appearances, Champions League appearances and title wins, as well as a healthy sell-on fee as a sweetener).

They will also offer him back to Motherwell on a 6-month loan deal to get it over the line – meaning he won’t move to Parkhead until the summer but the Fir Park club will get the cash upfront in January
Celtic are keen to get the deal done before next summer when the likes of Liverpool and Newcastle could make a move.

Motherwell believe he is worth around £8m but will likely be swayed by the sell on fee (believed to be around 20%) with Celtic’s recent record of selling players for around £20m+
A £5.3m deal alone would put him ahead of Scott Brown (Hibs to Celtic for £4.5m), Duncan Ferguson (Dundee United to Rangers for £4m) and David Turnbull (Motherwell to Celtic for £3.75m) as the most expensive player ever to move between two Scottish clubs.

Huns don't have £3.5m to spend on Miller they commited £4.3m to cortes.

If we pay £5m plus for this lad someone needs sacked he's slow as *. Looked abysmal anytime i have seen him he is out of puff after 20 mins.

I'd 100% go for that deal.

£6.5m is pocket change for us now and I don't want to miss out on another Scottish talent.

No idea how true it is or otherwise but if there was one position I would trust Rodgers to get the best out of a young player in it would be centre midfield.

He has been great for players like:

    - Joe Allen
    - Scott Brown
    - Stuart Armstrong
    - Callum McGregor
    - Tom Rogic
    - Oliver Ntcham
    - Ryan Christie
    - James Maddison
    - Wilfred Ndidi
    - Kieren Dewsbury Hall
    - Matt O’Riley
    - Paulo Bernardo
    - Youri Tielmens

To name some of those that come to mind. He is good at getting the best out of players in midfield and making them better players.

I am sure Hatate, McCowan and Engels will also kick on working with him.

Lennon Miller has shown he has talent and he also seems pretty versatile in where he can play in midfield. He is only 18 too so time to physically develop and improve that side of his game too.

It is a gamble at that price but we do have a lot of cash just now and as mentioned previously future European squads home grown players are going to be tricky to come by.

Aye, Midfielders and Wingers are his speciality, I think he'd do wonders with a player like Miller.

Only problem is we're really stacked in midfield currently. We have 5 midfielders who can all stake a place to start just now, and even if one of them leaves next year (likely Hatate) Miller would be coming in as fifth choice, would he accept another year out on loan when a club down south or even abroad can offer him first choice football right away?

I hope we sign him, but I don't think it's likely.

No clue about the source, but hope there's something in it. We should always be buying the best young prospects in our league, and Miller would be a great replacement for Hatate for when he likely leaves this Summer.

I am not so sure if we are paying the money mentioned he would be viewed as 5th choice. Staying at Motherwell to the summer would be fine get a full season of first team football playing week in, week out under his belt.

However when he comes in next year it wouldn’t surprise me if he was getting the sort of game time a Bernardo was getting this year. Not starting every week but coming on for at least half an hour a game and still getting starts.

To me with this new European format combined with internationals galore, and no winter break it is very hard to rely on a pool smaller than 20-22 players.

We currently have 19 I would say Rodgers is happy to play. Possibly the jury is out on Ralston and Sinisalo as he seems hesitant to play Ralston much and Sinisalo just hasn’t featured yet.

    Schmeichel
    Sinisalo (hasn’t played yet)
    Johnston
    Ralston
    Taylor
    Valle
    CCV
    Trusty
    Scales
    McGregor
    Engels
    Hatate
    Bernardo
    McCowan
    Kuhn
    Maeda
    Forrest
    Kyogo
    Idah

I think he would want to add at least 3 players to that group in January and possibly a further couple in the summer to cover Forrest ageing and if a Hatate moved on. Taylor too or at least a replacement for Valle.

For January/Summer it will likely be:

    1. A left back (January or Summer depending on Taylor contract and Valle situation).
    2. A winger/versatile forward - Rodgers clearly wanted one in the summer that didn’t arrive. (January)
    3. Another right sided centre back (Summer, unless CCV breaks down again as we play less games second half of the season.)
    4. Another centre midfielder (January or Summer - again there seemed to be a suggestion this was being looked at in the summer) This could be Miller.
    5. Another winger who is a Forrest replacement

Plus cover any one of the 19 above that leave.

I suspect Bernabei, Nawrocki, Lagerbielke, Kwon, Holm, Tilio, Kenny and possibly Welsh to be sold between January and next Summer or at least farmed out on loan.

It would be great if we could get a couple of the likes of Anderson or Frame, Cummings, Turley or Dane Murray in that 22 or on the cusp of it. Based on how Murray is doing at Queens Park I would happily sell Welsh next summer and give him a go as 5th choice centre back.

Another thing to take in to account is the style of play his team have been playing..

I've watched a couple of their games against us and then the huns and the latter was constant long balls that bypassed him in the middle (he was poor on the day granted). Would be able to pick passes and play his proper game at us and with the legs around him....Kyogo's movement. Maeda and Kuhn's pace in behind. Dead ball specialist. Only 18..

    There's loads of potential..

He's a great talent and exactly the kind of Scottish talent we should be signing up. Massive upside that could make the 5-6m spend look like chump change.

The problem is simply that it's the one position we have already spent quite a bit on and there is some good depth. He will be joining 5th in line and with McCowan and Bernardo looking good when they come on, neither deserve to fall behind in the pecking order.

An upfront fee and a loan might be an option I guess but we will still have the problem next season.

Yeah he was brilliant against sevco in the semi final oh wait he did his invisible man impression against them .
The player is raw and is a gamble and if he was a £2 million punt fair enough but £5 million plus think we could get better especially for Europe and no harm to the player and think as a club we have moved on buying a young player gamble signing and still hasn't done enough for me in the game to fork out that kind of money.
