He’s in a position with us that he won’t play if we buy him and we can’t justify paying. 3-5m on a player that isn’t gonna be in the conversation to start.

I really like him but he’s similar in level and style to Holm atm and he doesn’t get a sniff.

We 100% are in a position to be buying talented young players for £3-5m with intention of developing them into 1st team players.
    We probably won't tho

Bring him in and get shot of Kelly, even use him as part of any deal. Might as well have a more talented prospect that wants to be here with more league experience.

Kelly isn’t gonna turn round and say “actually leverkusen, dortmund, any of you foreign clubs that want me…im off to the well so Celtic can sign Miller” would be great but never happening bud

Feel like he's going to end up at the other side of the City. If I was to choose between him and Watson it would be Watson from Killie

He's a decent prospect, and we need Scottish blood that can progress to the first team, but I agree that he is not a starter for us and paying a few million for him would be an error.

    Huns currently can't afford anyone.

    They need to offload.

We should be signing both and laying out a path for them to the first team over the next 2/3 years.

It’s exactly the sort of signing Darren O’Dea should be a part of. A clear plan for them, detailing exactly where they’ll go, what they will do and how that gets them to the first team. They’d probably cost about £7m for the both of them.

They’re home grown, they’re young enough to develop significantly and that’s where we need to be more proactive. It’s exactly what should have happened with Holm, Kelly and Vata.

That's a fair point, he would honestly love the Well but, I can tell. The boy has arms for carrying pails of water.

Not sure why you think he's not ready to be a starter. We're looking to spend money on Paulo Bernardo who hardly set the world on fire with his performances and didn't start regularly. Miller on the other hand did start regularly and always put in great shifts. Not sure why that couldn't translate into our team, especially when we need more grit in the midfield.

Is there actually a credible link anywhere or are we just bumping this thread for banter?

Bernardo would have been a regular and put in great shifts at Motherwell last season too tbf, so it’s not exactly a fair comparison. The step up to Celtic is * gigantic.

I think we can absolutely justify it.
Even if he doesnt play straight away, he is an exceptional talent. Possibly even a generational one within Scotland. In my opinion, he already has an above average technical ability for an SPL level player.

He is years younger than Holm which is significant. Theres an argument to be made that he played at a higher level than Holm last season. Holm, in contrast, didnt really make an impact establish himself in a far superior side.
We have millions in the bank and he is definitely an investment and a risk worth taking.

Just to add context, miller went to Ibrox and CP and put in two very strong performances and looked every bit like he belonged at that level as a 17 year old in his first senior season.
That isnt an easy thing to do for a seasoned pro, let alone a teenager. He has also achieved an above average rating in a motherwell side who had to overcome a change of manager and a sustained slump in form that almost led to the dismissal of the replacement.

I'd love him here and if it's 3-5m to get him, I think that's justified.

The issue is his game time and would it be best for him - in turn best for us - to come here.

Turnbull as the most obvious and lazy example, he came in and I genuinely don't think he improved at all while here.
Such a high profile youngster we signed, made such a song and dance about it, the whole injury thing and going back in once fit etc, then just let him he a glorified bench warmer and honestly don't think he improved.
Miller would have to consider the same.

Are we gonna give him the game time he would need to develop and hope to have, or plump him on the bench most games and stifle his development? (Development obv not just down to minutes on the park).

His other options are to stay at Motherwell and keep improving with being a star there, look to Billy gilmour and think he can get a big club move and if not ready for them, he at least gets massively better coaching and development investment, followed by a decent loan move.
Or look to guys like Ferguson, hickey etc and to abroad. Enjoy the experience and expect he may walk in to a lineup in bottom half serie A or fighting promotion in serie B.

Take the green specs off, any sensible youngster would not have us as a high priority.

I haven't either but just looking stat wise he has no where near the goal involvement that Turnbull had
