End of the day here there is no debate. Celtic FC, or at least member of staff from Celtic FC, have came out and said don't sing them, it is that simple. It really doesn't matter if it is right or wrong Celtic don't want offensive chanting at Celtic park or any away grounds, I'd say more at away grounds as miatches are on t.v.

i'd happily leave songs mentioning ira past or present, however, we should not stop singing rebel songs as it would smack of hypocrisy to play the fields of athenry, let the people sing and this land is your land over the tannoy, FACT.

well its probably a good idea to support our clubs wishes, celtic is the most important thing in all of this, history is great and all, but our future is celtic, and doing anything with any chance of harming this club in the future, probably isnt worth it for me

Lets just let the bigots win then. Yeah?

I will not be changing what I sing anytime soon. Just to appease ignorance.

Don't think Republicans can be called fans....it's a bit more serious than that.

I have attended every Celtic game this season except from Kilmarnock away, Utrecht away, Inverness away and Aberdeen away. You have no right to say how much of a Celtic fan I am.

    Your right mate....I disagree!!

We should not disregard our history or we are just another football club. They cannot punish us for being Irish Republicans.

Well it seems you will insist upon singing songs which the club's hierarchy have deemed potentially damaging to the club.

That suggests you have a greater interest in singing the praises of the IRA than the welfare of Celtic Football Club.

I support both Celtic FC and the Republican movement equally.

I have put about 2 to 3 grand into the club this year. But I don't care for the welfare of the club? Get real mate.

So surely there is a means of supporting both without potentially damaging celtic? Very few people are advocating the binning of the rebels, they are part of our fabric.

But surely dropping the IRA pish would be a suitable compromise for both of your equally held interests?

Well you should stop, sing them in your own time when they wont effect anyone else, stick to the rebs that are basically harmless, our club condemn these songs you sing, why would you continue to sing them at our clubs matches, when its not welcomed by Celtic?

    Read it.

I said you have a greater interest, not that you had no care for the welfare of our club. Never let the truth get in the way of a good jibe though.
