If you don't like IRA songs which are rebellious against tyranny and to support freedom from whats right from wrong thats your problem.

Celtic played its part to help irish histroy same with hibs and dundee united.

We cant help that the problems in the north of ireland has support and problems in the west of scotland can we? It was britian who started all of this imperialistic invasion, there-for what the brits have made today I hope they rot in * and everyday to my grave I will sing rebs until the day I die.

If any of yous dont like britian being exposed yous are really need to get a grip btw.

Irish history not celtic's identity? nah? *laugh*

"CP as a place where politics does not belong" celtics happy enough to put poppys on the celtic strips eh?:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

The bigotry is unbelievable from you btw.

You're an idiot, plain and simple, to suggest that anything Dazza has posted is remotely bigoted. I should also add that your attempt to be condescending with several smileys only make you look more of an idiot.

I can't be arsed at 3 o clock in the morning to give you the low down on my political outlook on life but let me shorten it by saying:

I agree with what the original IRA did and I am in favour of the songs that commemorate that, however I don't think that songs about political events from another country 100 years ago should be relevant in a football stadium. I don't even think songs about hundred year-old political events from my own country should be relevant in a football stadium.

    aye am a idiot :icon_mrgreen:

If you actually know why Celtic was made then it clearly is relevant, irish immigrants fed due to british holocaust which is Irish history. Its IRISH histroy. Irish history of the IRA is IRISH history.

If you don't want these in the stadium then we would be like just any other * club.

Its these kinda fans that would turn us into another version of Hibs.. ie a Club with Irish roots that seem embarssed of there roots...

Thankfully im pretty confident in the fact that the rebels songs will never die out in our support!!

    Let the people sing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :50:

Thank you Neil Lennon. Glad to see someone from the club finally speaking out against the chants that will tarnish the reputation of the club.

I keep seeing people saying "i don't mind the rebel songs but......". There are no but's here. The simple fact is that the rebel songs are nothing whatsoever to do with Celtic Football Club. Don't tell me it's tradition or it's because of our roots. Our roots were not some ira love in or a team full of rebels. People need to separate the two and realise they don't go hand in hand. It's the same reason that orange walks and ulster have nothing directly to do with rangers. It's a football team not a political cause.

If people keep up with the "it's our heritage" etc then we'll never head in the right direction.Scotland's stuck in the dark ages as it is.I thought we were moving on but instead are belting out pro ira * that has no place in Celtic's history at all.

I also keep seeing people asking for clarification of what's offensive. Come on, the rangers fans have been doing that for ages and we have slated them for it. The way to look at it at the minute is that society has evolved in to a free for all * for tat complaint competition. We rightly complain about billy boys etc but in retaliation rangers fans are now offended by anything remotely irish sounding and have major issues with the ira chants. If you think about what you are singing and think "could this be considered offensive" then you have your answer. If the lyrics could cause offense then ditch the song otherwise we'll be heading for fines and bans too. I'd rather it was all stamped out before it get's to that point otherwise our reputation will end up in the gutter and we'll be labelled part of the old firm problems again. We have plenty other great songs that get the crowd going and no doubt give the team a boost without it resorting to that crap.

One thing nobody seems to bring up is what exactly do the alleged offensive chants bring to the team? They are who we are there to support afterall so do you think Hooper, Izaguirre or Commons think "oh ya dancer their singing my favourite ooh a up the ra"? As if. If i was them i'd be thinking * is this crap. I'd imagine some of the team are embarrassed to hear stuff like that. Who knows some of the songs might be offensive to them.

I'll no doubt get slated for my opinions but if that's the case i'll accept it but i'll be happy in the knowledge that i care enough about the club not to ruin it's reputation. If people continue to sing pro ira stuff the quite simply they care more about their agenda's than they do about the club.

Yes because the people that sing rebels songs don't care about Celtic.
