What free pass? He's publicly being left out of this pre-season tournament.

Fans would have the right to be * off if they knew all the details, which they clearly don't.

A free pass from plenty of the fans, not the club.

Some of the posts in here along the lines of "Uck he'll be fit in a couple of weeks, nothing to worry about:50:".

I see a lot of people saying loads of Celtic fans have it in for Griffiths, but equally there's a fair amount who can't see past him and are willing to give him chance after chance. Chances they wouldn't afford to other players.

I'd say we do know the details. He's returned from lockdown unfit.

As long as he's ready for the season starting, there isn't a major issue. It'll be a minor indescretion as long as he contributes when he plays. He's already received his punishment, so to speak.
Meh, people will always have their biases.
    That isn't knowing the details.

No games in 4 going on 5 months. No friendlys at all.

Can't get fit enough for pre season but you think he will be suddenly match fit and sharp in 3 weeks? :56:

Basically means griff wont be ready until atleast september.

Ever heard of development games? Ever heard of clubs playing random bounce games?

I don’t *know* if he’ll be ready, it’s his responsibility to be ready. He’s got a training regime tailored for him to bring him back to the correct standard.

If he’s not then it’s his own fault and he’ll face further criticism.

He might be fit for the start of the season, but he'll be behind the rest of the squad in terms of match fitness and sharpness, because he's missing our friendlies. I'd say that's an issue, particularly when they've already been away from the game for 4 months and particularly when he's an important player for us. If a few more important players were in the same boat, we'd be going into our first few competitive fixtures with half our team lagging, fitness wise.

We aren't privy to every in and out, but that's what it boils down to. He's been left behind because of a lack of fitness. Not really sure what else we need to know before forming an opinion on it.

Is Lennon that * off or is that just dirt rag sensationalism? If it turns out Lennon was *, then I have no doubt he had good reason. However it could just be a knock or they want fitness staff to keep an eye on him and deal with something himself.

If he’s contributing in competitive games, when selected, I don’t see that as an issue. We’ll need to wait and see if he does.

That’s my point, there could be a number of reasons as to why this has occurred. I’m disappointed that it’s happened too. If he’s just been lazy he deserves the punishment and criticism, but I’ve seen plenty suggesting we sell him immediately, which would be stupid. I just think that this is likely a mountain being made out of a molehill, fuelled by scum tabloids.

If that’s the case and it could be then fine, but with all the backing he’s had from the club and the fans and the wee snidey comments from absolute cuntz like Kris Boyd

I would be bursting an absolute gut during lockdown and getting myself as sharp and tuned and as fit as a butchers dug for this season coming

so as much as I love Griffiths if he’s turned up overweight then it is pretty disappointing and can totally see why Lennon would be * aff, a know mental health can affect anyone but he seemed to be over that and hes 30 in a few weeks, not a daft wee boy anymore and should be setting an example to the younger bhoys

Key point at the bottom of your post is 'if Lennon is * off', we don't know the full facts. All we know is what has been published in the Celtic statement.

There are plenty reasons that could lead to that, Lennon and the team will know everything that has happened and we have to therefore trust his judgement on it.

It could be anything from a dip in his mental health to being unprofessional and not sticking to the agreed plan..

Lockdown has impacted a lot of people's mental health and footballer's aren't immune to that, they're not emotionless robots. Leigh was already precariously returning from his time out and no doubt would've had a big support group round him along the way. That routine being broken up and being isolated from family, team-mates, management and the medical staff at Lennoxtown could very easily lead to a dip.

You might find it out of order that people have brought up mental health issues but other supporters will find speculating on things we have no knowledge about as our of order.

Mental Health issues very frequently need to managed over a period of time and there will be peaks and troughs. Just because he was back in the team and banging in goals with a smile on his face doesn't mean all is well. Lennon talks about winning a big game at Ibrox, everyone in the dressing room being elated around about him and him suffering a bout of depression that made him desperate to just be on his own.

He was supposed to be ready now not in X amount of weeks. I don't get how people can stand up for him in this scenario he's returned out of shape for the biggest season of his life massively unprofessional

No-one's standing up for him. People are simply saying it's rash to start speculating when we don't know the full story.

If he has been unprofessional and there's no mitigating circumstances for him turning up not in the correct condition then he will be disciplined accordingly or if Lennon feels like he can't be trusted then he may bring in another striker and move Leigh on.

Well that's your opinion and entitled to it. But going by the reports Lenny isn't as happy as you. What seems to get missed is that after 4 weeks testing and training at Lennoxtown he's not fit enough. Why is that? He obviously came back unfit yet after after a month he's still behind were he should be. If you read what Sutton said he's let the manager down badly and he's right. If you can't trust the player to do the necessary stuff away from the club, can he be trusted at all. I already said I loved the wee man, his ability is great and his feeling for the club. But sentiments are second to the club every time. But so did Paddy McCourt and he was punted because he just couldn't be that 24 hour athlete. Lenny needs players he can trust to follow the guidelines and Leigh hasn't done it. I get some players aren't the greatest of trainers, I hated it when I was still playing but those were the days of constant running and circuits in a gym. Leigh has every facility to keep him fit and on his program yet didn't. This isn't about ability now imo it's about trust and Lenny is showing a tougher side. I hope for Griffs sake he works as hard as he can but imo this may be his last chance.

Ps he's well paid to do some training to keep him in line with his guidelines. What else could he do during the lock down ????

Hope to * when I go back to work
A lot of people are standing up for him mate, seems to be the same with a lot of the arguments on here like tierney there was the hes an utter * of a snake no better the Rodgers team then the “ great luck KT Hope you do us proud, thanks for everything brigade “
Turning up a bit overweight for Pre season training isn’t a mortal sin certainly wouldn’t be the first guy That’s did it and personally looking at the picture s doesn’t look to me to be carrying much

some people like Calum McGregor N broony are self motivator s and don’t need other people by their sides to push them

Griffiths obviously isn’t, bit disappointing, but hopefully gets his act together and pushes on

I don't know what you're meaning the Tierney point mate?

Lennon doesn't suffer fools gladly, if Griff is out of line then he will deal with him accordingly; if he thinks it's been serious enough then he might decide he can't rely on him going forward.

    Time is going to tell.
