The problem is the system, he's not the type of forward who's good at hold up play or creating chances for others, he's the type of forward who needs to play alongside someone who is and feed off them.

We only need him to be a goal scorer, hardest part of the game.

Regardless he's in his worst run of form in a Celtic strip, even with his brace last week.

He makes me miss Gary Hooper. Easily twice the player Griffiths will ever be.

    Yep.

Griffiths' goals have carried us, no doubt. But like I keep saying, he consistently puts in * displays in the 'big' games.

No doubt someone will say "what about the 2 goals against Malmo". Aye, but that was what 8 months ago?

He'd be a great back up striker.

His attitude * me off sometimes, when things weren't going his way yesterday, he went in a huff. He is in really bad form. There are plenty of players we could and should hang out to dry before Leigh though.

I was at the game, so didnt hear, but someone said to me that the Sky cameras picked him up having a go at Ronny?

Yeah if we realistically want to get in to the group stages and perform in Europe again then we have to sign striker who's better than Leigh Griffiths.

This for sure. Why anyone would give the ball to Brown or Johansen right now is beyond me. Brown would not be a starter in any top 6 team in current form.

I didn't think Griff was that bad yesterday. He had a few wild shots but I'm fine with that - at least someone is having a go. He was a baw hair from a double too (inside of the post and underside of the bar). If Roberts had tucked that rebound away I'm sure Griff would get some praise but Roberts' *-up steals the moment.

His form hasn't been the best recently but I'll defend him because he's been brilliant this season.

Where is this myth that Griffiths never performs in the big games coming from?

How many big games have we actually had under Deila?

No group stage CL football in the past two years. Two derbies against the filth, one in which he scored the opening goal. He's scored against every other team in the Premiership over and over again.

We've not seen him in the group stages of the CL yet, mainly because he's one of the stand outs in a very poor squad. One guy can't be expected to carry us to CL glory, but Griffiths is doing a * fine job of essentially winning the league for us on his own. 37 goals is no mean feat in any league.

Hooper never scored 37 goals in a season, neither did McDonald. I don't remember Sutton or Hartson doing it either?

We would be struggling for top six if it wasn't for Griff this year! He was actually one of our better players yesterday! Of course that says more about the rest of the team than it does him! :56: No, plenty of blame to go around after yesterday, however very little goes the way of Griff!

    It's far from a myth.

    Look at this season.

1 goal in 6 EL group games, inlcuding missing about 3 great chances v Ajax and a sitter against Molde when Allan played him through. Missed big penalties against Ross County and Hamilton - plus the fact he was rotten in both games. The last game against Aberdeen he scored a consolation goal in the 93rd minute, but offered nothing the previous 92 minutes. Yesterday v the huns he was rotten, failing to control the ball constantly and shooting when he should have passed.

He has zero composure. Whenever he's through 1 on 1 he never looks confident and usually hits it straight at the 'keeper. His penalty taking is atrocious. His all round play is pish. If he doesn't score, he offers * all.

He's at his best when he has little to time to think about his shot.

But again, how many of those are considered 'big games'? I would argue only the Europa League games were truly big.

The Ross County/Hamilton ones may have been big in the context of the season, but again it begs the question, why are we always relying on just one guy to see us through the season?

Most of the blame should go to the board for not making sure he has a sufficient strike partner up front alongside him. Also Deila, who insists on playing every game with one up front.

A lot of the criticism aimed at the guy is unfair to say the least, especially considering he'll probably end the season with 40+ goals in a team where he is often the only striker on the pitch.

Big games. Games where the pressure was on. Just because it was against 'smaller' teams doesn't mean the game isn't important.

Of course we should have another striker who can chip in with 15-20 but that doesn't take away from the fact that Griffiths has come up short too often in these high pressure matches.

His scoring record is great don't get me wrong, but in the context of this season and the number of chances he's had to score - he should be on that amount of goals.

Do you think it's fair to say that he wasn't getting the service in some of those big games?

37 goals is still a great achievement and one that will likely see him win POTY.

It's madness to even begin to level any criticisim towards Griffiths, he's the guy that's dug the team and Ronny out of a hole on more than a few occasions.

The back up in the striking department is non existent, shocking for a club like Celtic, supposed to be competeing in Europe.

Exactly. In these 'Big Games' 8 or 9 of our starting eleven have gone missing most of the time.
How is he supposed to score goals when we can't even get the ball to him in a decent position?
He was hardly missing sitters and we were pummeling their goal with shots and crosses - we were *!
