He'll want to stay and sign what he's offered (heavily incetivised deal in my opinion).

He won't get a deal anywhere near as good as one here. Certainly not from Hibs or Aberdeen. Can't see him wanting to move down south again away from family.

Bit that's strange to me is a lot of the support were livid with Lennon for not playing Griffith's. Many pointing out and quite rightly that Griffith's wouldn't find match sharpness if he didn't get a game.

Now we got an incoming manager with nearly indications Griff will get this chance for match sharpness and everyone wants Griffith's gone it seems.

If Ange gets Griffith's back to his best not only will it save us a lot of money but it will secure a lot of needed fire power!

Not against this as a move at all. Lennon hardly.played Griff in his first tenure and hardly played him in his second tenure. Both managers in between Lennon's stints got a lot of game time out of Griffith's (mental issues aside).

think lennon missmanaged him, couldnt understand why he was in scored goals and then was left completely out of the side afterwards

some kind of egocentric management bullshit going on there me thinks

remember sutton slaughtering him for being unfit alluded to him being fat he wasnt that * bad that was sutton being spoon fed crap from lennon

LEIGH GRIFFITHS is hopeful he can thrash out his Celtic future over the next 72 hours.

Griff has been in limbo since the end of April with Hoops chiefs dithering over keeping the out of contract striker for another campaign.

The 30-year-old managed just seven goals in all competitions last season and missed out on a place in Scotland's Euro 2020 squad.

But new boss Ange Postecoglou looks set to hand the often troubled striker another Parkhead lifeline after positive talks last week.

And Griffiths hopes to find a resolution over the coming days by penning a new deal.

He told BBC Scotland: “I’m out of contract at the end of the month, but I spoke to the manager last week and he’s keen to keep me on.

We’re looking for a deal that can be done and hopefully it can be done in the next few days."

Griffiths was relegated to a bit-part player last term after returning to pre-season out of shape.

He started just nine games and failed to complete a full 90 minutes, with questions raised over his fitness.

But the goalscorer insists he WAS in top condition and believes he was harshly treated by ex-gaffer Neil Lennon and his coaching staff.

Griffiths voiced his frustrations in a text exchange with Lennon following the Northern Irishman's exit in February.

He revealed: “I’m fit. I said it towards the end of last season, if you’re fit enough to be on the bench then you’re fit enough to play games.

“At times, Celtic were losing or drawing games and needed a goal and I was the one brought on to make that impact

I did it away to Aberdeen and then I was thinking I’ve not had a lot of minutes during the season so in the games towards the end of the season when the league was finished - for example against St Johnstone at home, we were winning 3-0 at the time and I got 17 minutes.

“That’s what was coming out of the club but I’m thinking to myself, if you’re not fit then you’re not going to be part of the squad until you are. That’s my take on it. You’d have to ask the coaches at Celtic or Lenny why he didn’t think I was fit.

“Given the run I had after the Scottish Cup Final in December, I played six or seven on the bounce.

“I had a run of games in December/January time and I messaged him after he was let go, and said there was one bad 45 minutes against St Mirren when we got beat at home. I had a bad 45 minutes, yeah, but I wasn’t the only one.

“And after that I wasn’t seen again until the Falkirk game nearly two months later. That was the last game I started."

Griffiths - who has scored more than a century of goals for Celtic since his bargain £900,000 move from Wolves in 2014 - believes he deserved more opportunities during the car crash campaign.

He added: “At times, yeah. Like I say, the run I got from the end of December through to January I was fine and starting games and playing well.

“The only game I didn’t play more than 60 minutes was the game at Ibrox. We were playing well and got a man sent off and I was the one that came off.

“But apart from that I scored goals, I assisted goals, I was playing well but that bad 45 minutes against St Mirren was a turning point

Let's not rewrite history. Griffiths mismanaged himself. Three different managers have criticised his attitude/diet/fitness.

Only one manager played him consistently. 40 goals.

Again, many strange things happened last season, I personally think NL was front and foremost the reasoning for it.

I think Griff is going to be an essential player for us this season, not just in terms of goals but his attitude to want to win games is exactly what AP installs into a team.

Aye, and I raved about that at the time but it was 6 seasons ago and Griffiths is largely responsible for not featuring consistently since then. Having said that, he's played at least 20 games in every season since then, with diminishing returns. He's played over 30 games in three of those seasons since that 40 goal season and hasn't hit the same heights, partially due to managers preferring other strikers, but partially due to Griffiths' unprofessionalism.

Three different managers questioning your professionalism is a red flag and in our biggest season since 1966/67, Griffiths couldn't even be arsed to do the bare minimum required of an athlete and stay fit. It seems obvious that he viewed lockdown as an extended holiday from work.

Also, as good as that 40 goal season was for him on an individual level, it was also a symptom of Deila's one dimensional system, where goals from other areas of the pitch were lacking.

It looks as if we're likely to be stuck with him for next season, and when he plays I'll support him like I do any player who puts on the jersey, but I expect the same unreliability and really hope we sign a couple of strikers in this window. I'll be delighted to be wrong about him, of course.

Pay as ya play contract might get the clowns head in the game..

I do agree with what he said about being fit enough for the bench. Lennon was full of * saying he wasn't fit yet chucking him on when he needed saving.. And when he played he looked fit enough to me. Still doesn't excuse some of his shitehousery...

I'd like to hear that mute Kennedys take on it, but we know that ain't gonna happen..

I actually believe Griffith when he says he was fit. I think it's been well known for a while that Lennon can and does hold a grudge. It looks like Griff was getting the blame for stuff last year as he was an easy target.

Done with him in all honesty, and surprised more supporters aren’t.

I’ve seen massive amounts of stick dished out to the like of Edouard, Christie, Ntcham even Calmac in recent months. The truth is though, while we can complain about each of those players attitudes or performances, they all keep themselves fit and available to play. For whatever reason, Leigh gets a bit of an easy time of it even when he came into our most important season in decades so unfit that he couldn’t even start pre-season with the squad.

Some supporters are * idiots. The people who harp on about “aye but he scored 40 goals that time” are the ones who think Griffiths is better than Dembele and Edouard because he tied a scarf round a post at Ibrox.

The type who wouldn’t mind Strachan back because “he talks well about the club and knows Scottish football”.

It’s a weird mindset they have. They’d rather have somebody * or average who is a Sellick man and hates the huns, than someone far better from abroad who might leave in a few years.
