I wonder what would have happened if Legia had won the first leg 3-0 instead of 4-1. Then the 3-0 forfeit win for us would mean the aggregate score is 3-3. Would we have to fly out somewhere this afternoon and play 30 mins of Extra Time?!

The player was suspended because he did not complete his suspension. His suspension wasn't complete due to the fact Legia did not register him in the 25 man squad against St. Pat's.

This may seem petty but UEFA must follow their own rules, if they do not, the integrity of their rules come under question.

There is no, slightly breaking rules, there is just breaking rules. Everyone is given the same guidelines and they must be followed.

Folk may not be able to gravitate this, but the rules are the law of the game.

He's full of *, Celtic were notified by UEFA on Thursday, directly implying that they had nothing to do with it.

Genuine shame for Legia, on the face of it a truly honest *-up, and we didn't deserve to go through. Would've been interesting to see how they did as well because they look a very dangerous side.

However I can completely understand it: letting them off the hook with naming a suspended player in the squad would set a very dangerous precedent.

 

Lawwell would have sorted it.

Legia would win on legitimate goals scored (i.e. during play) vs. default goals scored (awarded because of a punishment).

we were well and truly beaten, legia deserved to go through regardless of a silly little error they made.

all this will do is paper over some cracks in the club for another season and top up lawells bonus.
