I suppose you're right about Celtic not knowing about it. As for the rule about playing a suspended player--it could have been interpreted differently, as the player had de facto sit out his suspension. In any case, there's no point going over all that again.

Good luck to Celtic in the CL play-off (and I mean it).

OK, but my point is that a rule that leads to such unjust outcomes needs to be changed. You can't possibly think that forfeiting the match is a proportionate punishment, can you? We shouldn't be so blasé about this. It's too late for Legia, but they should be the last.

Naaah, in 2 weeks time everyone will keep his fingers crossed for Celtic and still hate UEFA (but I suppose they're used to it). :smiley-laughing002:

Not a snowball's chance in *--the man loves Celtic, always have.

Cheers. Thank you for your posts about Legia's disqualification. Your lack of bias is admirable. Fans like you bring back my faith in common decency in football.

I think it's because of my Communism. :icon_mrgreen:

    Ha ha, just kidding.

Hope you're right about Boruc. Forster was a great keeper for us, but I doubt we'll still be chanting his name next season, let alone in 4 or 5 years (on several occasions last season our away fans were singing Boruc's song). The man is a legend and I'd hate for him to fall out with Celtic.

Mate, there's a reason why the sentencing guidelines are different for murder, manslaughter and causing death due to negligence. Intention really matters.
As far as inflexible rules go, there's also a reason why judges are given discretion within those guidelines. This has cost Legia millions and will possibly weaken them for years, fans who have waited nearly two decades to see their team in the CL are going to miss out. It's phenomenally disproportionate for * up some paperwork.

We should buy Legia's front 3 with the CL money and sell our dross. That way at least some of them will still make it through to the next stages.

It's not an unjust outcome though is it. It was only for a play-off game. There's no guarantee that Legia would have beaten Maribor in the next round is there?

It's a question about the money and losing the money, if it was only 100k nobody would really bat an eyelid. But because it's "potentially" a lot of money it's crime of the century. Ye go and play a player who's banned in the league, what do you think happens? You get docked points. CL you get docked goals.
Over a two leg match, that makes sense.

Fines generally aren't a deterrent. Teams would just be happy to pick up a fine.

Once again, there was no intent and no cheating. Where does deterrent come into it?

It's at least £2 million for the playoff stages, plus guaranteed Europa spot, plus good chance of however many million more if they made the group stages. For a club on their budget, this could set them back years. More importantly Polish fans have been waiting nearly two decades for a CL spot. I remember in the 90's watching English clubs and Rangers in the CL for nearly a decade and boy did it hurt. They've been waiting nearly twice as long.

This is a * way to progress in a tournament, while I understand the rules this issue did not effect the sporting integrity of the matches and I have sympathy for Legia.
To be honest I have very little enthusiasm to watch this poor Celtic team get dismantled in the Champions League (especially by an English team). We will be lucky to get a single point the state we are in just now. It can`t all be about money.

Which assumes we will get past Maribor and I think that is very doubtful anyway. Looking at the teams we could get in the Europa League -

Everton, Borussia Monchengladbach, Inter, St Etienne, PAOK, Torino, PSV, Brugge, Spurs, Fiorentina, Lokomotiv Moscow

I personally would rather see Celtic play against any of those teams than get landed with Ajax, Benfica, Barcelona or Juventus again.

Totally agree - it's completely disproportionate and ridiculous. If any team deserved anything in the history of football it was Legia to go through against celtic. UEFA should change its regulations on the back of this situation to allow leniency in such unusual and extreme cases. Feel hugely sorry for the Legia fans - and before anybody starts about Nazis - I am sure that even if they are - as ridiculous as that might be - it won't be all of them. There will be a lot of very disappointed kids, grandads and hard working guys who will be utterly gutted - just as there would be at any club. It's simply not fair.

That it has actually happened to a club with fans like Legia's makes it ten times more sweeter. The real icing on the cake however was the Europa League draw sending them to Kazakhstan. When your lucks out, your luck is really out :smiley-laughing002:

They're * * man, I'm having a good laugh reading on here how good they are and how we should buy them. We made them look good and that's it. The main guy Radovic's been playing in Poland for about 10 years now and that's for a reason.

Oh, and * Legia again. Dirty *.
