We were poor last night, but the 3 points is all that matters. Great goal aswell. Pats on Monday. Big game.

Youths do try and play so decent football but that only gets you so far, seen it last year with Limerick who tried to pass it about and play ball but ended up relegated because they couldn't see certain games out like Rovers done against Wexford. Unfortunately I can see Wexford going straight back down along with either Bray or Sligo.

Cork City supporters were forced to seek refuge in homes and businesses after they were set upon by rival supporters following their 1-0 defeat to Derry City at the Brandywell last night.

Teenager Ronan Curtis secured the win for Derry with a goal on the hour mark but the result was blighted by events that transpired after the game had concluded.

Sinn Féin Cllr for Derry, Patricia Logue, witnessed the incident and described how around 150 youths targeted 30-40 with stones and batons.

“This was a very serious situation; a small group of Cork City FC supporters were surrounded on the Brandywell Road by a mob and viciously attacked," she told Derrynow.com

“They had to seek refuge in local businesses and homes.

“I would like to commend all those local residents and members of Community Restorative Justice who came to their aid and prevented a number of people from being attacked.

“Those who came into the Brandywell tonight and attacked the Cork supporters do not represent the people of the area or Derry City Football Club.”

A statement released by Cork City read: "The club has been made aware of an incident in Derry last night, where a group of Cork City fans were attacked outside the Brandywell.

"The club utterly condemns those involved in the attack, who in no way represent Derry City FC, their supporters or supporters of the League of Ireland in general.

"We would like to thank those locals who came to the assistance of the Cork City fans and Derry City FC for their subsequent assistance."

Rovers won 1-0 up in Donegal tonight, good start nine points out of a possible nine although we will have to improve to stay near the top, sets it up nicely for our game at home to Pats on Friday.

Btw we were fined €2k for the banner in Sligo :38:

Yous were always going to be fined for that. Stupid banner to bring to a football match. As a matter of interest have you any idea of how many people Robertson Killed in the North? Are people just guessing that he was a War Criminal? A few Bohs fans were chanting "Robertson you Murderer" on Friday night.

Anyway, we were awful last night, absolutely terrible. Simple 5 and 10 yard passes going out of play. I think we'll struggle this season, too many ordinary players.

He served as a member of the British army in Ireland, we know nothing of what he did as they keep that to themselves, so its fair game. Do you think its 2k fineworthy ffs? If the FAI think that was bad, * only knows what Derry will have when he goes to the Brandywell.

You overachieved last year with the players you had but can still lift your game when needed, you'll be comfortably midtable. That waste of space Akinade letting you down as well I see

You still don't know if he killed anyone. He served in the North in 1993 and 1994. Who ever calls him a war criminal is just guessing with no facts. Not every single member of the British Army is a *. To some it was just a job. Many of them came from working class backgrounds. Don't get me wrong some of them enjoyed the killing, but we don't know how Robertson felt about it. The fine was harsh but that's what some of your fans get for being stupid. Tbh I don't really care about the banner, I can see where your fans are coming from. I'd rather it wasn't brought into the ground.

Stupid tackle for the sending off from Akinade. To be fair to him though he was the only one who was really trying. We made Pats look a lot better then what they are. They are average. From what I've been hearing Rovers are also quite poor. Big game for us on Friday aswell.

It said war criminal and not murderer which covers a fair few things that could be directed at most Brits that were in Ireland. I don't particularly care how he felt about it, he was part of the organisation. It would be pointless to have the banner anywhere other than in the stadium, it wouldn't be seen otherwise in fairness, a 2k fine in the LoI for that is madness, pc gone mad.

Going on match reports he could have been sent off before that tackle as well. Pats always start slow under Bucko and they've a new young team, they might be a good shout again for the cup. We haven't started firing yet at all and will have to lift it a good bit for Friday alright, still though 9 out of 9 is encouraging when we aren't at the top of our game yet, this time last year we would probably only have 5 points after the same games

If it was a convicted IRA member he would be slaughtered in the media and hounded out of the job. It shows the hypocrisy of those who control, run and influence our country and its people.

    Premier Division

    Friday, March 18th, 2016

Shamrock Rovers v St. Patrick's Ath. - Tallaght Stadium

Derry City v Galway United - Brandywell

Bohemians v Wexford Youths - Dalymount Park

Dundalk v Cork City - Oriel Park

    Saturday, March 19th, 2016

Longford Town v Bray Wanderers - City Calling Stadium

Sligo Rovers v Finn Harps - Showgrounds

    First Division

    Friday, March 18th, 2016

UCD v Waterford United - Belfield

Drogheda United v Athlone Town - United Park

Shelbourne v Cabinteely - Tolka Park

    Saturday, March 19th, 2016

Limerick FC v Cobh Ramblers - Markets Field

Couple of tasty games in the Premier Division between Dundalk - Cork and Shams - Pats. Bohs and Wexford could be interesting with Wexford putting in two good performances against Dundalk and Shams in their last two games and Bohs being less then impressive could very easily see Wexford come away with three points. Derry and Galway could be a cracker but think Derry will edge it with home advantage and hopefully no repeat of what happened with the Cork supporters. Finn Harps have impressed in their first three games and will fancy coming away with the win against Sligo who are struggling to get going this season. Longford and Bray could be mistaken for a first division game after Longford's 6-0 defeat at Cork and Bray with three defeats and a goal difference of -9.

Not much happening in the first division, Drogheda should have enough to see off Athlone and keep up their push for promotion straight back up. Same with UCD, Waterford were poor against Limerick last week and UCD need to be winning these matches if they are to make the playoff. Limerick should have a tougher game this week against Cobh but should have enough to see them get win at home and keep up their 100% record so far, Aaron Greene to add to his four goals in two games so far with another double hopefully and hopefully Cabinteely hammer Shelbourne.

Very poor game in Tallaght, both sides are well off challenging going on that showing imo. Fair play to Pats however who took their two only chances. Disappointing that in our first serious challenge to date we had no answers at all.

Yeah, something really has to be done about troublemakers travelling to games. I heard a few Rovers fans were refused entry. It's a pity a lot of their Casuals aren't banned from home games. Horrible *.

So what you mean is this group of Derry ones who are causing trouble with away fans before most home games took second prize off a group of Rovers fans. The heart bleeds for them

A lot of them are. Theres a group of younger lads who are involved in the BSC that go to games. I can't remember ever seeing them cause trouble at a game. The last time the BSC caused trouble at a game was Longford in 2011. A few of them got in and caused trouble. The rest didn't even get off the bus and were sent home.

Obviously we have our fair share of scumbags following us but he club does a far better job keeping trouble makers away then Rovers do. Known Casuals like that Paul fella from the BBC documentary still aren't banned. Rovers have a massive problem with scumbag supporters and always have. Bringing up the BSC who have done * all in the last few years will get you nowhere.
