 We are broadly agreeing. We aren’t beating these teams not because of ‘downsizing’ in the way most use/mean with this term ie not spending enough money. With our resources, we should be a Champions League club that can comfortably compete at that level with the occasional hope of progressing to the last 16 or at least the EL fallback spot. However, we routinely struggle against lesser sides such as the ones mentioned because of gross mismanagement in how we do spend what we spend – we have squandered untold millions over the years which no-one seems to ever be questioned or held accountable for. As said, we lack a coherent football strategy, have done for years, and the blame for that has to lie at the very top.

It's a crazy sum of money that most people can't begin to imagine earning, but I guess there's the argument that if everyone at the top of every club is earning that much then you kind of have to pay out in order to keep your staff on board. Personally I find it an obscene amount (especially as staff lower down aren't even getting living wage) but the club's got to play the game.

If you take his overall salary including his bonus, he was on £19,221 p/w. As far as I know, the only player to be on more than that would be Scott Brown. I wonder how many clubs in world football can say that their CEO's weekly wage is only bettered by the club captain. I might have missed a player out, but I can't think of anyone other than Brown who is on more.

I agree completely, i have said on numerous occasions we waste millions on multiple players who don't work out. Seemingly the vast majority of players we buy are uncomfortable in possession and when pressurised.

Yet we play the likes of Maribor, Legia etc... whose budget is probably 2/3 times smaller if not more than ours yet they seem so much more comfortable in possession and don't continually give it away.

There is a serious lack of direction and strategy to buy specific players to suit our game or bring in specific players to suit the game we want to play.

That could happen with everything and probably would as Lawwell leaving, companies will know was his choice, which to them could signal that things are declining at Celtic and he's no longer willing to remain then they'll all come circling wanting to renegotiate lesser contracts knowing we are in a poor position.

One of the biggest worries as a Celtic fan for me is what would happen if Lawwell left as we'd struggle to cope even if our base income went down by £3million a year which could happen very easily and then we'd have to reduce the wage-bill and everything would just decline making things a lot tougher than they are the now to remain stable.

A lot of fans think we should be better than we are, when in reality we should be worse than we are.

When the likes of guidetti sets himself 20 goals and only reaches 10 we'll still pay him his bonus, and Gordon for 10 clean sheets and so on..

The only reason we end up with Bangura's, Balde's and Pukki's is because he wont sanction the signings of our priority targets and he wants to do everything on the cheap, probably to ensure he hits his targets and gets his bonuses. The fact that the last couple of seasons its seemed as if we've been basing our signings on whether we qualify for Europe or not is testament to that, if he can do it on the cheap he will, if it all falls to * like this season he'll maybe sign one or two players to keep the fans buying tickets and merchandise.

It's well versed mate that club can't sustain the money involved £5-6m players (if that's what you mean.)

If you tally up all the absolute tools that Lennon signed it all adds up to a pretty penny. The truth is Lennon and Park have failed miserably with the signings over the last year or two in the job.

If they had failed with players that cost £5 or £6m the damage done may start to look irreparable.

However, based on your post, I am downgrading my suggested payment to him next year to £1.75m

So basically people are getting angry over our CEO being paid what is not an unusual wage. During his time here we are currently looking at 4 in a row, been to the champions league knockout stage and group stage, are one of the most financially stable clubs in Europe.

What is the problem? He didn't sanction a few signings that you believe in your infallible knowledge was the correct thing to do? He was a bit heavy handed with the Green Brigade? Come on..

We are in a good position considering the league we play in, other clubs paying below average CEO salaries and with our revenue would not compete the way we do, even if we do have temporary lapses in the standard of football we expect.

Not to mention that he has deferred his bonus multiple times?! Also turning down the opportunity to likely double his salary at Arsenal? What do you honestly expect or want to happen?

you having a * laugh glen he deffered it not refused it! we got the cheapest option as manager, we sign projects who turned out to be 1 good in every 7 on average!

most people get a bonus of 3%-10% not * 60% plus he will not sanction the living wage either he said he would.

We certainly dont look like a team capable of 4 wins in a row let alone 4 championships!

the CL qualifers are not good enough for some, yes he was heavy handed with the green brigade, without them there is more noise in a library, (i am not a GB supporter nor do i dislike them) they bring colour and noise to CP, fans are turning away in their droves! are you just being sarcastic or trolling cause your point is useless!

Nobody said we can have success all the time, but our batting average is well down recently.

That's what happens when you operate in the market we are operating in. They were very succesfull at turning a net profit. More so than anyone else in our history.

its like celtic on the stockmarket and it's sell sell sell every time we get a decent assett

there's no doubt pete and the board have over done the sell sell sell

it actually looks like to the fans we are just picking decent players up now to try them out and if any good sell at the first chance to an english premier league club

and when you look at things in that context it's no wonder we have went downhill fast and morale is low

that's bad leadership, but maybe pete has been told to sell sell sell after all he is ultimately an employee with his remit from his employer
