Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund, Schalke, Paris Saint-Germain or Malaga

    when is the draw?

personally id prefer shalke. avoid the other German teams just now. folk on talksport saying Malaga will be the easier draw as even though they are flying in europe and in the league they are massively in debt and will sell in january

What an atmosphere there would be if we got Dortmund, both grounds would be rocking. I want the best opportunity to go through though and I think that's with Malaga or Schalke.

I'm just buzzing that we have actually made it to the last 16.

OK, due to the fact that teams from the same country can't draw each other in the last 16, we have the following stats:
PSG's opponent will be drawn from a pool of 7 teams,
Shalke's opponent will be drawn from a pool of 7 teams,
Bor. Dortmund's opponent will be drawn from a pool of 7 Teams,
Bayern Munich's opponent will be drawn from a pool of 7 teams.
Juventus' opponent will be drawn from a pool of 6 teams,
Manchester United's opponent will be drawn from a pool of 6 teams.
Malaga's opponent will be drawn from a pool of 5 teams,

So before the draw takes place, we have the shortest odds of being drawn against Malaga, (5/1) followed by Man u & Juve, (6/1) followed by the rest. (7/1)

Of course, as soon as the draw takes place and names start coming out the hat, the odd's change again. Here's the draw I fancy:
    PSG - Galatasaray
    Shalke - Valencia
    Malaga - Celtic
    Bor. Dortmund - Porto
    Bayern Munich - AC Milan
    Juventus - Real Madrid
    Barcelona - Arsenal
    Manchester United - Shathner Donetsk

Man U will do for me.

In a two legged set up, with the way we lined up v Barca we can take on anyone. Over the two games v Barca it would have went to extra time if it was a straight knockout tie.

PSG would be good too, Paris in the Spring.

One thing I'm happy about going into the last 16....

We haven't failed to score an away goal this year.

Barcelona, Lisbon, Moscow, Helsinborg, Helsinki... doesn't matter where we go. We're a threat.

Neville is a surprisingly good pundit, even if hey doesn't express his views quite as well as the more silver-tongued amongst them. A breath of fresh air. :50:

And Samaras has scored in every one of them.

It is vital he doesn't get injured between now and February.

judging by some of the other club forums aka malaga and juventus, we're the team everybody wants which is ok because it can be an advantage to be the underdogs. Just a shame that we have to play at home first

Dunno why, but I think our best hope of going a stage further is Malaga. They've been brilliant in the Champions League so far but I just think we stand the best chance against them, United aren't at top form but in 2/3 months time they could be. Plus, United are very experienced and always seem to win when they do play *. Suppose this is the stage where we just take anyone and give it our best go, going to be very difficult but we can do it :celt_2::shamrock:

I would a strike a note of caution to those that say because we beat Barcelona, we can beat anyone.

Barcelona don't cross the ball or use the wide areas to great effect, simple as that. They don't even cross the ball at corners. They try to pass the ball through the middle with quick one-twos and with the occasional '*' over the top for late runners. Lenny sussed that out and we stifled it and nicked the game with a good set-piece and a defensive error from them.

The likes of Dortmund however, will pass the ball for fun, but can also mix it up and break down the flanks, with the full-backs overlapping at lightning pace, as they showed against Man City.

I really think they are the team to beat.

There is no seeding from the q/f onwards, nor national protection.

If you can keep a clean sheet at home then anything can happen, as devlin has said we are always good for at least 1 goal away from home.

It's about still being in the game going into the second leg.

says how much an achievement it is for us.

we all wanted to be here, so lets not be too picky. ideally, i'd like to avoid Bayern, Dortmund and Juventus.
