Looking at the teams that progressed, that last minute Barca goal against us may have turned out to be a blessing! Top teams are PSG, Schalke, Malaga, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, Bayern, Man U. Second placed teams are Porto, Arsenal, AC Milan, Real Madrid, Shaktar, Valencia, Galatasary. That second set is arguably tougher than the first.

 

Anyone bar Dortmond

 

I think Man Utd would definitely be the best draw for us,even though they are a familiar opponent in terms of how many times we've played them in recent years.

 

Juventus or Malaga

 

I want Malaga or Schalke.

 

I want United or Schalke.

Dortmund are the only team that will batter us. Glad Shaktar are out as their pace and skill upfront with all their Brazilians would have killed us as well. That Emenike * raped us over the 2 games.

Genuinely take anyone else. Not a single team in the Champions League can or will beat us at Parkhead, and then it's just about trying to keep a clean sheet away.

wow, some serious underrating regarding united on this thread. Reading at our forums there seems to be a similar trend amongst united fans who want to play celtic because they also think you're crap. I think both sides of fans proving how much of an eejits can football fans be. Celtic arent a bad side and although we'd play the return leg at home it could be a tricky tie. Mind you, those who are saying united is * need to get a footballing education ASAP.

We may not be the force we once were, but we're top of the Premier league (I know, you consider our league *, but regardless the leader of the PL can't be a * team, perhaps not a great or eveb a very good side, but not *), we topped our CL group with two games to spare, and we have an attacking force with rooney-RVP and chicharito that no many can match in europe. Its true our defending has been shocking at times, but vidic is about to return, and that singlehandedly will give us some solidity at the back. Plus we tend to hit our best around january-february when the tie will be played.

Ive read a few forums from rival teams, and the only ones who want to face us are celtic fans. Fair play to you. You could be up for a surprise though, by then perhaps we won't look as * as you think we're right now.

 

If we avoid Bayern, Juventus and Dortmund I will be happy.

People want to play Man U cos we really want to batter you! It's got * all to do with whether you're good or not. On paper Utd would murder Celtic, RVP cost more than Celtic's entire squad ffs, but on paper Barca should have also killed Celtic and the "Battle Of Britain" tag would make the Celtic players raise their game even more.

I genuinely believe Celtic would knock out Man U.

Would be nice to get someone different though as Benfica, Milan, Barca, Man U it's always the same teams.

I dont think many Celtic fans think United are * mate but there is no doubt that you are far weaker than you have been in the past. Also the EPL is as poor a standard as it has been in a long time and has been on the decline for a couple of years now.

No matter who we draw we are going to be outsiders but what we lack in quality at this level (and lets be honest we do), we have more than made up for in endevour. You guys are seriously short of quality as well though it has to be said and, imo, only Van Persie on form is world class. This is obviously in comparison to your teams of the not too distant past and not compared to us.

I think you will be lucky to get past the Q/F this year barring a fortunate draw and think that there has been a real closing of the gap between you and other teams in Europe. By that I mean that you have went backwards whereas the likes of Shaktar and Dortmunt have went forward.

I honestly dont think you stand a chance against Barca, Real and probably even Bayern. However, good luck to you as you are always (well nearly) a team that likes to attack.
