This thread is an advert for increased public spending in schools. The world is not going to end due to a scientific experiment to find the Higgs Boson. If it does i'll suck GlasgowTim's balls and tell him i've been abducted by aliens and they told me religion is all * and esoteric agenda is 100% factual.

    What about HAARP? :56:

I think you just like things with big words in it you don't understand mate. All it is is a science experiment to understand the earths atmosphere better.

its nothing to do with the atmosphere for starters. it messes with the ionosphere.

Mate please don't try and teach your granny how to suck eggs, i know exactly what it is and what it does. Do you know what the ionosphere even is or am i asking too much?

ok its part of the atmosphere. its the outermost part of the atmosphere tho. and it has nothing to do with testing, it was created to manipulate weather etc.

'HAARP is a scientific endeavor aimed at studying the properties and behavior of the ionosphere'

The first line lifted from the official website. All it does is excite a small portion of the upper atmosphere then reads what happens. What's so amazing about that it's a routine science experiment?

The Mayan's did not predict the end of the world - it's just the end of their long count calendar. It happens to coincide with the earth aligning with the centre of the galaxy. The Mayan's knew a * of a lot of stuff about the stars that today we struggle with. There is a whole host of things pointing to something major in 2012. It could be absolutely nothing though!

Because the Mayan long count calendar ends on Dec 21, 2012 doesn't mean it's the end of the world. It could simply be the end of their calendar, which is then due to be repeated for another 26,000 years (I think). Nothing more, nothing less. This is obviously not in the same year as the LHC, which will begin later this year. There are other predictions as to what this date (2012) brings such as enlightenment, humans becoming aware of other dimensions such as the fourth dimension, the return of the Lord, the anti-christ, the false messiah, aramageddon, polar shift, etc, etc.

Check out this for some fun reading: 2012 Predictions

Of course, that thought, that its just the end of a calendar due to be reapeated is not as exciting as all the possibilities and conspiracies, which are exciting to read and capture the imagination of lots of people.

The LHC will be started in 33 days or so but there will be no particle collisions until late October, thats when the fun and games will start! I'm very scepticle though and think they will be trialling things behind the scenes and doing test runs that we won't hear about.

There is a bit of panic about this, pretty much the same as the panic about the Atom bomb. No one knows what will happen, we can only guess and hope for the best.

The end of the world prediction isn't the only prediction that comes along with the LHC. Other possibilities include:

    • Nothing - apart from a waste of money and time
    • Creating the exact same environment as was after the Big Bang
    • Weakness in gravity
    • Creating a rip in space time, allowing us to time travel
    • Opening up of other dimensions
    • Creation of mini black holes
    • Creation of a black hole that will devour the earth
    • Finding the Higgs Bosom - aka the '* Particle'
    • Messing with our experience of reality
    • Place your prediction here - have a go yourself, everyone has lol :icon_mrgreen:

Personally I think the LHC will produce something - something exciting and amazing. Something that could change our outlook on what is possible. I don't think it will be the end of the world but we humans are a developing race and technology is always advancing.

This is the next step. I don't see humans ever stopping progressing, which could eventually lead us to wiping ourselves out. It's only a matter of time before the world eventually ends one way or another, someone might just guess right but there's not much we can do to stop it if it is to end.

It's interesting times we live in. Don't be panicing though!

HAARP is an interesting subject. I'd reccommend reading up on Nikola Tesla - one of the most intelligent people on ever the face of this earth. Some of his stuff is literally amazing and proving the basis on the majority of technical stuff we use today.

He had experiments in technologies that could effect weather, wireless engery, etc.
