Reported in Australia that Arzani loan deal from Man City is almost over the line.

It's true that Celtic probably need defenders more than attackers but you guys will love Arzani. Very special indeed although likely to mainly come off the bench. At first.

I think we all agree that we need a few players in however id rather BR took his time and got the correct ones rather than just buying * (ala Sevco).

I'd be more annoyed though if we are into the season and the same problems arise like last year and we havent bought what is needed.

Im sure it will be sorted this time...The SPFL is easy as it is,Europe though if we want to make a push is where we need quality

100% agree with this. We ain't asking for a £10M+ defender. We have seen the quality 4/5M can get you in ntcham. Plonk a 5M CB next to ajer or boyata. If we get a similar quality of ntcham but in the CB role we will look a dam sight better. Not saying we will go beating the likes of Munich but I don't think we would take a humping either. With a bit of luck on the night we could even pull off when of those incredible nights! It's frustrating because imo we have a brilliant team. We are just a decent defence away from being a team to avoid

Not really worried tbh. No way the board are going to sanction two big money moves ( Edouard and C/B R/B or whatever) when there is no european football guaranteed. They have never had the sort of mentality as we fans have. Ie. get a r/b and a c/b in and it will incease our chances of getting there. They will most probably look at it and think, 'if we get there we might be able to get a r/b and a c/b.

The early closing of the english transfer window will be a big factor this year, in a good way for us I think.

We should have enough to get at least to the play off round, if we play to our max.

Looks like the usual wait to see if we're in CL and then spend, if Europe then downgrade and spend.

Wish we followed English transfer market and it would've meant we would have to make our move earlier.

Even when we make the UCL groups we don't spend

    2016 - £1m Gamboa
2017 - Eddie and Paddy on loan

what I do take from Brendans comments is it wont be until closer to the end of the window before movement if any.

I could see us going with the current squad myself tbh regardless of what European competition we are in.

    GK

    Gordon
    Bain
    De Vries

    RB

    Lustig
    Gamboa
    Ralston

    CB

    Ajer
    Simunovic
    Hendry
    Boyata
    Compper

    LB

    Tierney
    Miller

    Wide Players

    Forrest
    Morgan
    Sinclair
    Johnstone
    Hayes

    Holding Mid

    Brown
    Ntcham
    Kouassi
    Bitton

    No 10

    Rogic
    McGregor

    ST

    Edouard
    Dembele
    Griffiths

Still potentially punt Allan and Christie

Even at that 24 first team players plus 3 GK is too much to run with squad is too big

We have spent mate but really, we’ve taken in £14m between Armstrong and Ban Dijk. It’s like we’re stockpiling cash.

The lack of movement for defensive options is baffling given how clear it is that we need a RB, 2nd choice LB and another CB.

Unless our primary targets are in the EPL or Championship and we're awaiting to see who makes squads then sitting on our laurels could seriously blow up in our face with these UCL qualifiers.

The hyperbolic statements from Rodgers about needing to spend 10s of millions of £s for top quality defenders are another deflection. No rational fan is demanding £10 million RBs and CBs that are the finished article. It shouldn't be outwith our grasp to spend upto £5 million on the right individual that has potential eg. Van Dijk.

If we're not able to find upgrades on the current squad within our budget then either the scouting department is seriously under-performing or Rodgers is being unduly dismissive of their suggestions.

yes we have spent £9m on Edouard but we have brought in £8.5m to cover most of that outlay. In the new celtic financial year (1st july to 30th June) our spending is nil to date but what I am saying also is even when we make UCL groups very rarely upon qualification do we spend anything extra

My biggest worry is that Brendan will get * off, we're lucky to have a man of his calibre, the Board should be doing everything to keep him happy, give him the tools he needs to do better in Europe ffs !

    It is when:

    The squad clearly needs improvements

The manager has made it clear in interviews that he wants improvements.

We're faced with 4 x UCL qualifiers that effectively shape our whole season.

When the English transfer window ends there will be players down there wishing to leave as they realise they're not going to get many games. According to someone on Superscoreboard they could come up here, I don't know if thats true but if it is thats when our Brendan could strike, or swoop might be a better word.
