I'd have him back in a cut price deal within the next 18 months tbh.

Plenty of players have thought that the grass was greener. People make mistakes. As long as we keep moving forward, that includes selling players and buying them back on the cheap - see Jota. I know there are differences but I'd have had Wanyama, Hooper, Forster all back not long after they had left after they failed to make a name for themselves elsewhere.

As much as I loved kyogo when he was here , I'm not happy about why or how he felt the need to leave. Maybe poor judgement from himself but I don't feel any sympathy for him if his move doesn't work out. Any of us can see it was a poor choice, a bit mad that him or his team couldn't

Him being surprised that the manager got sacked is just plain weird. His agent has done him one there, all in the name of getting themselves some money. Hope a few players have taken note, these agents are mostly all slimey snakes.

He’s * it by trusting an agent who just wanted money, he wanted the move but what a daft move that will be in hindsight.

He’ll be even further away from the Japan squads now.

Personally think we should offer them half the money back for him in the summer
    :fear:

By then he'll realise his mistake and play even harder than usual.

Is Maeda the better striker and that Japan manager was right all along?

The worrying thing is according to Sky they switched their formation to 352 and not only did he not get a start, he wasn't considered 3rd choice striker when the new manager looked to the bench for subs.

Can't really argue with the new manager either as he's turned it around for them and got 3 wins from 4 and they're now comfortably clear of relegation playoff. He can only hope the manager sticks with the new formation which should open up more opportunities.

Do feel for him a bit, but that's the risk you take.

Of all the players we've had in the past who have moved on to less glamorous teams, I've understood the logic. Maybe not agreed with it but I saw the opportunity offered to them.

Besides money nothing about this transfer makes any sense. Even the idea that Rennes allowed an outgoing manager to spend 10m on a player the week before sacking him was just odd.

Would be interesting to hear from Rennes fans on both Jota and Kyogo. They must be as confused as anyone.

But I do wish him well- might just take a bit of time for him to get going similar to Idah here

His goal is to make the Japan squad next summer. The Japan manager wanted him scoring in a stronger league. Time will tell if it works out for him and I hope it does.

It's a weird one that tho as he doesn't have an issue with Maeda playing for us and making Japan squads..

And surely, scoring goals in the CL is a more adequate barometer than scoring for a lower league French side.. it's a flawed narrative for me.

    This.

Hatate and Maeda regularly make the squads. I feel like the Japan manager just doesn't rate him.

He doesn’t have the physicality to play for his Japan side and Maeda does, that’s the blatant fact of the matter.

    * love Kyogo for trying right enough but he’s made a boo boo.

I agree, it does seem that their manager just doesn't rate him highly enough.

Without knowing it, there's loads of cultural reasons he may not get picked too - if he back-talked the coach, fell out with another player, did something to change his social standing versus other players... And ultimately, that Japanese team is doing really well, so there's little impetus to suggest the coach is picking anything wrong...
