TBR Football understands that Tottenham have rejected the chance to make an offer for Celtic forward Kyogo Furuhashi, who now looks set to join Rennes.

Tottenham are hoping to sign an attacker with less than a week remaining in the January transfer window and Dominic Solanke now set to miss several weeks.

Solanke could be sidelined for up to six weeks after suffering a knee injury in training and Ange Postecoglou is pushing for Spurs to bring in a replacement.

Tottenham were offered an opportunity to bid for one of the Australian’s former favourites, Kyogo, however, they have opted to focus their attention elsewhere

Tottenham have chosen not to pursue a deal for Kyogo Furuhashi, sources have told TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey

Kyogo Furuhashi looks set to join Rennes in a deal worth around £10 million, despite Ipswich and Leicester having both had a look.

Kyogo really made a name for himself under Postecoglou who brought him to Celtic from the Japanese top-flight.

The 30-year-old played a key part in helping Celtic win the league and cup double under the current Spurs boss. The Japanese international netted a remarkable 54 times in 83 appearances under Postecoglou

Is Rennes quite a rich club or something that can offer huge wages? It's a move I really don't get.

Their owner used to be one of the 50 richest men in the world (Francois Pinault), he's worth half of what he was a few years ago but still something like €30b.

This forum is so boring right now, can somebody track an aircraft or something before this place turns into a madhouse?
Don’t know what the wind did to you lot but the petty arguments are worse than my fellow Aussies invading this joint for a couple of years :fear:

Rennes boss Jorge Sampaoli has opened up on the arrival of Kyogo Furuhashi from Celtic after he failed to make the game against Monaco.

The 30-year-old has been the top target for boss this month as he looks to the Japan international steer his side away from the Ligue 1 relegation zone - with the Scottish Premiership leaders set to land a £10m payday for the frontman with Jota heading in the opposite direction for an £8m fee. Speaking on Thursday about Kyogo, Sampaoli admitted he hoped the striker would be available for Saturday's visit to the Stade Louis II - going as far to state that a deal would be done within 24 hours

And with mystery surrounds the striker's unveiling, following the 3-2 defeat Sampaoli stated he has "high expectations" for the Parkhead talisman with a deal appearing to be imminent. Asked about the Hoops' fan favourite, the Argentine boss said: "We hoped he could play a few minutes against Monaco. We have high expectations of him because he is a player who can bring us a lot, in particular, depth.

When we (the coaching team) arrived at the club, we expressed our needs. Now, we are coming to the end of the transfer window, and it is always difficult to find concrete solutions.

Rennes striker Amine Gouiri has welcomed the arrival of a new rival for the frontman role, stating post-match: "The reason Kyogo Furuhashi is coming to the club is because we need him

We need reinforcement in attack. It's good for the club. Competition is part of the job. And I think it is good for everyone to increase the level. I hope he will help us a lot

I wonder does he have a clause in his contract allowing him to leave if they are relegated.
