    Seems really poor planning. Would we have kept him another week if we'd lost last night so he could play against Villa? Suppose we're content to just go and lose that game and get rid of our best striker ahead of it. Baffling logic to be honest and could come back to bite us.

    I think it was Rennes that needed him as soon as possible, mate. From how quickly things have moved, we seem to have refused to do anything until we reached the CL playoffs (and rightly so). I'd bet quite a lot that if we hadn't won last night, we'd have kept him for the Villa game.
