He doesn’t really though. Johnson at Spurs I will grant you, but while here, he had Jota - a right-footer on the left who cut inside very often - and either Maeda or Abada, neither of whom are exactly associated with getting to the byline and whipping in crosses.

I also challenge your definition of ‘tradition’ when it comes to wingers. Throughout our history, for every Jinky, we’ve had a Lennox, who - while being an able crosser and capable of doing a job hugging the sideline - was mainly a wide forward who would make diagonal runs in behind. For every McGeady, a Naka, etc.

When Cruyff was twisting and turning, coming in and back out, and almost totally eschewing the byline altogether, and rarely crossing, do you really think people were wishing he’d stay wide and fire long diagonals in?
This is going back 50 years, remember.

The problem with your dogmatic insistence that every winger look like a Jinky, Giggs, etc is not that it isn’t ‘modern’ or ‘fashionable’; it’s that it’s such a narrow definition that it misrepresents the entire history of wingers in football altogether. If you want narrow-minded, empty traditionalism based on falsehoods, away and support the Huns.

Edit: As to your second point, that’s just poor tactics on your part - an opposition box packed full of 6ft+ defenders and that’s ‘when our wingers should choose to cross’? Aye, alright…

Offering absolutely * all at the moment. Played majority of his career as a winger and it's starting to show. Has absolutely * all idea how to lead the line and show for the ball. Only interested in running in behind despite fact we dont play that style of football

Was at fault for the first goal, no idea why he doesn't try and release it.

Oh done better in his short cameo, and he wasn't great either.

He’s getting really frustrated by this football. You can see it in him.

Can’t remember the last time he scored in either a run of games or a brace in a game

35 yards form goal and thinks he has all the time in the world and that no one is gonna challenge him. Absolutely * all awareness.

Hartson made good point too. He has to show for the ball more. If the ball is with full back he need to come to that side of the park and give option to hit him, instead he's standing in centre circle inbetween 2 cb both of whom are about a foot taller than him, absolutely no chance of finding him there. * absolute basic striker play and he's not doing it

We'll lose him playing Rodgers' style.
    Completely alienating him.

Hes open plenty of times 1 on 1. That's not Rodgers style, that's players not having the balls for a forward pass. Hatate back and kyogo will be back to looking great. If not ship him out and get some moody French guys in who suit the style.

Need a bigger target man up front. He can’t hold his water against these teams.

The way Rodgers has us "playing" takes him completely out of the game.

    They are not simpatico.

Tbf was a poor mistake that lead to goal and nothing wrong with calling that out but there are a few resident roasters on here that were probably choking for something like that to happen so they could have a go.

And to be fair he was equally as pish in europe last year too.

He's actually scored a couple of goals this year at least so he's actually performed better under Rodgers than he did under Ange in europe
