The styles have changed and there is absolutely no doubt this style doesn't suit him but as iv said it would also appear that the Japanese national teams style doesn't suit him either.

So is he a player that's only great in a certain system or can he do what great players do and adjust his game to play different styles?

If he doesn't don't be suprised if he ends up playing in a different position or is sold.

Conversely, why change the system to nullify our most important player?

Because not every manager wants to play the same system as the previous one and given the success he's had here previously and everywhete he's been in his career I think Rodgers is entitled to play his own style.

Managers don't adjust or alter their entire philosophy to suit 1 player that's not how football works.

Rodgers had already stated players will either have to adapt or move on.

We have already seen it with Hatate, where it is currently different with Kyogo is that there is zero quality alternative to him at the moment.

Rodgers has not made us better in Europe, and I'd say we've regressed domestically, too. He shouldn't have tried to fix what wasn't broken, at least. His ideas suck.

I just don’t buy that. A fast player and/or a quick build-up system doesn’t suddenly become slow simply because someone is playing on their opposite side and (naturally, following their feet) drift inside rather than outside, literally further from the goal. If anything, it can result in direct attempts at goal more quickly.

Messi has played a huge chunk of his career on the right, cutting onto his left-foot. C Ronaldo similar (r/footed on the left side). No one accused them - nor accused Robben and Ribery, nor currently accuse Salah, Saka, Rashford, or any number of other ‘inside forward’ type wingers - of slowing the game down.

Defenses have adapted by piling men into the predicted path such wingers take. As for us, even the rapid Abada didn't score the majority of his goals cutting in to take a long shot.

I'm going to go on record and call Rodgers an absolute moron then. I've been very vocal about my thoughts on him.

Success here, but he's been on a downward trajectory since he left. He's hardly setting the heather alight on his second stint here so far.
His brand of football is dire regardless of heat maps showing us playing in the opponents third. Playing the ball side to side is exactly why our strikers are not as effective. We're also still making no progress in Europe either.

Managers choosing to ignore a teams strength to play their own way is just stubborn bullshit and another reason why Rodgers is a moron.

Agreed about Hatate and the lack of quality squad depth. The trouble for me is that I don't think we're a rich enough club to be able to keep quality backup. If we could afford 30k players to sit on the bench then that would change that equation.

So essentially that's what it all boils down to really isn't it.

You don't like the manager so your looking for anything and everything to moan about and blame it on him.

He's the moron yet ur the 1 that thinks it's Rodgers, and every other player in the squads fault that Kyogo isn't paying well.

Is the Japan manager a moron too?

I suppose on the upside we dont need to worry about a club coming in for him and takin him away unless it's Ange of course. Bcoz at the moment he looks like a player who's only suited to 1 very specific way of playing and unless that team plays that way or their manager is willing to rip up his entire philosophy he won't be going anywhere.

The Japanese manager was starting to use him, and the concussion stopped a call-up that was going to happen. The main choice of Moriyasu plays similarly to Kyogo- looks for passes of teammates. The difference is that Ueda plays like a classic poacher who's good in the air and a bit stronger, but less pacey than Kyogo.

Let me be clear. If the manager changes the system in such a way that it reduces the effectiveness of our talisman, then he's absolutely to blame.

Again, you’re mischaracterising the role altogether. Part of the point is to be nearer to goal.

As for your first point, you can say that for literally any system or pattern of play; maybe especially for the ‘old-fashioned winger’ paradigm of which you seem to be fond.

You do get that he's a new manager aye?

If we wanted an Ange clone we would of appointed Muscat.

    Just to add some stats.

This season 19 games 8 goals and 2 assists

    Last season 1st 19 games (14 league, 4 champions league, 1 league cup) 10 goals 1 assist.

Off top of my head he missed an absolute sitter when he tried to be too fancy v st mirren at home in last minute which would have put him on the exact same goal contributions over same number of games.
I could be wrong but I don't remember you being on here at this stage last season calling Ange a * moron

Since "modern" wingers are expected to cut in, a narrow, deep defense has become even more useful than before. Ange uses wingers more traditionally, and Kyogo has had great service.

Now, we are stuck with massive possession stats, but without an effective way to break down deep defenses. And a part of that is our wingers opting not to cross when they should.

No manager is going to come in and play the same system as the prior, especially one as unique as Ange's.

I've said previously I'd like to see us involve Kyogo more, but in a way that also suits the System Rodgers is going for. Kyogo himself might need to adapt, but we won't truly find out until we've got fullbacks that can actually run and support our wingers, it's a massive reason we look so inconsistent going forward, and it greatly affects Kyogo.

There are 100% areas in which Rodgers can improve, and system change or not he should be comfortably beating Motherwell and St Johnstone at home, but the argument of Rodgers being a moron for not sticking to the previous system isn't a sound one.

Aye, but even after one window he's still inherited a starting xi designed to play a specific way. He'll have time to change the squad and we'll see how that looks come the start of next season but at the moment, him choosing to force the fact early is is just stupid and is asking for bother.

The fact is that our current squad is geared up to play that way. Rodgers will want to change that but he needs another few windows to really put his own identity on the team.
He's forcing the fact too early, and our forward players are seemingly feeling the repercussions of that at the minute which is proved by how inconsistent we've been.

I don't fully disagree, but it's up to the players to adapt as well. In Taylors case he's had to revert to the Inverted role, and I don't see him ever adapting to Rodgers System, but I think, given time, Kyogo will. He just doesn't have the support yet, which harkens back to the abysmal summer window.

If the only signing we make in January is an overlapping LB, I honestly think we'd see a massive improvement in both Kyogo and the overall form of the team itself. For now, it's really just hoping both Rodgers tries to accommodate Kyogo a bit more, and Kyogo willing to change his style to fit the system.

You seen it with Hatate too, albeit I think he'll adapt much quicker when he's fit.

Imo if you've got a Striker that scores goals in Cup finals, derbies and in the champions league you play to his strengths.

He still looks injured too, he has the shoulder injury and limped off against Atletico at home. I hope Rodgers has stopped playing injured players by giving them injections like his first spell.
