Kyogo Furuhashi

Kyogo is continuing to pick up all the top individual awards in Scotland this season, having today been named the cinch SPFL Premiership Player of the Season.

The Celtic striker last weekend scooped the Player of the Year Award at the club’s annual event on the same night he was also named PFA Scotland Premiership Player of the Year.

Kyogo has been in superb form throughout Celtic’s title-winning campaign, scoring 25 goals in 34 Premiership appearances along with six goals in other competitions, including a double in the League Cup final triumph at Hampden.

This season’s impressive goals haul has taken his overall tally for Celtic to 51, and with three games remaining this season – league matches against Hibernian and Aberdeen, and a Scottish Cup final against Inverness Caley Thistle next month – the 28-year-old will be looking to hit the net again for the Hoops.

Japan recalls Celtic ace Furuhashi for friendlies



Scottish Premiership player of the season Kyogo Furuhashi earned a Japan recall Thursday after nine months in the international wilderness saw him miss the World Cup.

Furuhashi has scored 25 goals in 35 games this season as Celtic comfortably retained their league title, currently sitting seven points clear of Rangers with one game to play.

Japan coach Hajime Moriyasu called up the 28-year-old forward for friendlies against El Salvador and Peru, along with Celtic team-mates Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda.

"I called him up because he's getting results and making his presence felt," Moriyasu said of Furuhashi, who last played for Japan in September last year. "I expect him to score goals. I expect him to go for goal and I expect him to create chances."

 

Hatate and Maeda in that list too. Wee bit of a turnaround from the manager.

Needs to play today. Hope he bags a hat-trick if he does because he'll definitely be wanting to end the season as top scorer in the league.

Shankland and Van Veen only a goal behind him and you can pretty much guarantee both of them scoring at least once today tbh.

I don't care what anyone says, if he was playing like he has been for the past few months....he'd have bagged goals in the champions league..

He was nowhere near his best during that period..
