I could put this in any of our Japanese players' threads. But since Kyogo skelped the Huns, I'll put it here:

People here have had massive outpourings of love for our Japanese lads. They are in avatars, signatures, and user names. Some people might turn bisexual at least in their love for our samurai, but here's an idea for those extra committed:

Go start learning Japanese.

I've reignited my passion for this country after the World Cup. I'm using Kanshudo to help me progress on the arduous path of Kanji, and fortify my decent grasp of the grammar. If any fellow devotees to the Hi no maru (Japanese flag) wish to join me, perhaps a thread in the pub should be started? I and @NakamuraTastic are up for helping those who step on the wonderful journey of being one step closer to Kyogo and his hard-working, honest friends.

Terrible season he’s been having

 

Oh you utter * lol I'd quit Japanese but was wondering on having yet another effing crack lol. I'm kind of lower intermediate.

I have tried all of these *...
iKnow Japanese - excellent interface where you learn 6000 sentences but it's mainly polite Japanese - Learning polite Japanese first has major problems in comprehension (that's a long story) but at the same time it's ok.
Wani Kani - Just for learning Kanji - An excellent interface and does teach you the kanji - but the mission is 2 years of only Kanji study - very effective but you won't be able to speak much. However, you will definitely be able to read the Japanese characters and their pronunciations. This is not for the faint hearted lol but once you can read you can pick up a ton more.
Nihongo Shark - This is pretty good but it's mainly Anki flashcard based and that can do your head in after awhile - but here you do learn tons of casual Japanese and grammar.
And Renshuu - my personal favourite as it has it all in one - Kanji - Sentences and Grammar for around £130 lifetime...

However.. everyone should try free trials of all softwares seeing as we all learn and prefer different modes of study

But yeah... Ganbatte! (Do your best!)

I opted for Kanshudo because it has a variety of learning methods, and tracks progress (AI). Every day, I'm doing one lesson. I think I can safely recognize and read about 110 kanji right now. I know a lot of words when they are written in hiragana, but not kanji. Soon, that will be getting fixed.

Regarding polite Japanese- I find it easier to understand than casual stuff. Same with Korean.
