I like him more for his difficult background as a footballer. I think I need to explain the major routes for Japanese young footballers to become professional footballers.

    Route 1
Join kid / youth teams of professional football clubs and keep playing for the clubs till they sign professional contracts with the football clubs when they are 17 or 18 years old. Tomoki Iwata and Yuki Kobayashi are this route.

    Route 2
In Japan, both high school football and university football leagues are very serious. Play for the high school football teams till 18 years old (in Japan, 16 to 18 years old = high school). If they are impressive seen from professional football clubs's scouts, they sign professional contracts with professional football clubs at the age of 17 or 18. Daizen Maeda is this route. He was from Japanese high school football league.

    Route 3A
If they can't win professional contracts when they are 18 years old (the final year of high school), they go to university to play football for their university teams. Then, if they can show their impressive quality in the university football league, they can sign professional contracts with professional football clubs. Reo Hatate is this route.

    Route 3B = Kyogo Furuhashi's route
Route 3B is close to Route 3A. Just like Reo Hatate, most university footballers sign professional contracts when they are 21 years old, about a year before graduating. As to Kyogo Furuhashi, even when he was 22 years old just before graduating, no contact from professional football clubs. He was very eager to become a professional footballer, so he joined many trials of professional clubs but he kept failing to win a professional contract. At the very final moment, one J2 club decided to sign with him.

He was almost giving up becoming a professional footballer, and the background makes him enjoy playing football even more now (I feel so).

By the way, Route 3A and Route 3B are the very major routes now. I mean, Route 1 and Route 2 used to be major routes. However, in recent years, more than half of young footballers newly signing with J-League clubs are from university football league. This shows how difficult it is for us to judge the quality and abilities of 18 year old Japanese footballers. I mean, they can still grow as footballers drastically when they are 18 to 22 years old.

I hope Kyogo can play for the national team in AFC Cup next year.

The year 2022 could hardly have gone better for Kyogo Furuhashi if it had not been for the end of the World Cup. National coach Hajime Moriyasu renounced the striker in the Japanese line-up for Qatar, who scored 19 goals for Celtic Glasgow last year - only Ayase Ueda (24; 22 hits) by Cercle Bruges was more successful in the world's top leagues in 2022. A small damper for the 28-year-old, whose shape curve was steadily uphill.

After the announcement, I immediately switched in my head and focussed on the upcoming game, the Champions League game was imminent. However, I could not achieve hoped-for results and I was therefore not a help for our team," Furuhashi looks back in conversation with Transfermarkt. Just one day before the final "royal classes" group match against Real Madrid, he received the notification of non-nomination, in the 1:5 against the Blancos he was replaced after 62 minutes and only twelve ball contacts.

But I was very happy that my teammates approached me again and again to rebuild myself. I was therefore very determined to perform even more and score goals for the victory of the team, also to make all the other players smile," says Furuhashi, who scored right in the next league game. During the World Cup, I was very inspired by the combative attitude of the Japanese national players. It was a little different from before, because this time it was all players with whom I fought together. This has made me work even more on my skills and improve the quality of my game. I think that my development curve is currently pointing in a good direction."

Furuhashi has not lost the goal danger, with 19 hits in 24 games, he not only leads the list of goalscorers of the Scottish Premiership, but is also currently in tenth place in the race for the Golden Shoe - in front of a Neymar (31) or Lautaro Martínez (25). Furuhashi emphasises that it is not only his merit: "I am very grateful at first. I have great players, club employees and fans who all always support me. Fans who cheer me on, a team of coaches that trusts me and engages me, as well as players who fight for the ball with high physical commitment and provide goal chances through wonderful passes. Because I can play for victory together with all those, I can score all the goals. I would also like to repay this trust from everyone by running a lot for the victory of the team, with and against the ball."

Even in the period before his 5.4 million euro change to Celtic, Furuhashi was able to play with greats such as Andrés Iniesta (38), David Villa (41), Lukas Podolski (37) or Thomas Vermaelen (37) at Vissel Kobe. At Vissel Kobe, we had many good players. It was a great experience to train and play with players like Andrés Iniesta or David Villa and also with wonderful Japanese players with experience abroad such as Gotoku Sakai or Hotaru Yamaguchi. I was able to learn a lot, for example in terms of the intensity and quality of the game or the great passion to win every game, or behaviour as an individual person. I think that I can currently show that I have learned from all these experiences and that I am very willing to continue to grow, says Furuhashi.

Furuhashi has 30 goals mark in view at Celtic Glasgow - interest from Bundesliga

Since 2018, the centre forward has always hit in double digits, but he does not necessarily have a guard measure at 1.70 metres. Of course, I'm not a big player, so I have to work even further on my game and improve. My positional game, for example, or the timing when I offer myself, or that I become even more varied at graduation. I work on this again and again during training in order to be able to optimally implement all these processes in the game," Furuhashi said about his secret of the ongoing goal danger.

Personally, the attacker has a certain seasonal goal in mind. As a team, we want to win as many titles as possible with everyone who has to do with Celtic. As my personal goal, I would like to score 30 goals this season, but of course I don't know what will happen in the future. Therefore, I just want to score as many goals as possible and contribute to the victory of the team, says Furuhashi. The 30-goal mark in the dress of "The Bhoys" last cracked in the 2016/17 season Moussa Dembélé (26), who scored 32 times in 49 games - for Furuhashi it is now 22 goals in 34 appearances

It is hardly surprising that Furuhashi played his goalkeeper into the focus of clubs from the top leagues with his goalkeeper. At Celtic, the Japanese are still under contract until 2025. I want to be as successful as possible with this association. My focus is only on Celtic in order to be able to achieve the best possible success for the club," says Furuhashi, who has aroused concrete interest in the Premier League, LaLiga and also Bundesliga. Not least in the 1:3 defeat in the Champions League at RB Leipzig, when Furuhashi prepared the interim equalisation, scouts were on site to observe him.

Kyogo Furuhashi insists he still has trophies to win at Celtic as the Japanese striker put any talk of a near exit from Glasgow to bed.

The 28-year-old's form has captured the hearts of Parkhead fans and potential suitors down south with some reports suggesting Partick Viera's Crystal Palace could be keen on a summer swoop for the Japanese star. That could mean a sensational reunion with ex-Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard but Kyogo's 22-goal streak this season means he is fully focused on the task at hand.

The talisman's infectious attitude looks set be felt by Parkhead fans for some time yet as he admitted his focus is squarely on Celtic, while admitting he feels he has much of his game still to improve under Ange Postecoglou.

He told Transfermarkt: "I want to be as successful as possible with this club. My focus is only on Celtic to be able to have the most possible success for the club, As a team, we want to win as many titles as possible with Celtic. As my personal goal, I would like to score 30 goals this season.

“But of course, I don't know what will happen in the future. So I just want to score as many goals as possible and contribute to the team's victory."

He added: "Obviously I'm not a great player, so I still need to keep working on my game and improving.
"My positional play, for example, or the timing when I offer myself for a pass, or that I will be even more varied in my finishing. I keep working on those things in training so that I can implement all of these processes in the game in the best possible way.

"I am very grateful because I have great teammates, club staff and fans who all always support me. Fans who cheer me on, a team of coaches who trust me as well as teammates who fight for the ball with a lot of physical effort and create chances with wonderful passes.

"I want to repay everyone's trust by scoring goals, running a lot, with and without the ball, to help the team win. After the World Cup squad announcement, I immediately switched my mind and concentrated on the upcoming Celtic Champions League game against Real Madrid, but I wasn't able to play the way I had hoped for and I was therefore no help to our team.

"But I was very happy that my teammates kept encouraging me to help build me up again. So I was very determined to do even better and score more goals to not only win matches, but to make all my teammates smile.

"And during the World Cup, I was really inspired by the fighting spirit of the Japanese internationals. It was a bit different than watching previous tournaments because this time it was all players that I played with.

"This made me want to work on my skills even more and improve the quality of my game. I think that my development curve is currently pointing in a good direction.”

bit of a wall of text but good to see a player actually come out say no I'm not going anywhere I'm happy here, instead of the usual wishy washy 'my agent deals with that' pish. Good on Kyogo, hope he's here for a right good old time.

The hun press trying their hardest to derail the Celtic bullet train. No danger!! And wee Kyogo kicks sand in their faces with today’s statement.

I just love him, and I hope he’s instrumental in winning the treble.

I see over 30 goals if he stays healthy. And we’re too good for the DOB’s!!
