Played 45 mins over the 2 games. Will be lucky to make world cup squad.

He's usually involved in the Japan squad in competitive games. Would be surprised if he didn't make the world cup.

There manager has barely played him since he signed for us. Dunno if that was same issue before he signed as obviously didn't pay any attention to them.
Manager seems * clueless to be fair and that Dan olowitz is regularly criticising his selections so wouldn't be surprised tbh

True he was starting a few games before finding himself on the bench. Probs based on his J League season before joining us. Get the impression the manager rates him and Maeda even if it's as squad players. I think those two will go to WC but Hatate will miss out. Ideguchi definitely has no chance lol

Aye given there 26 players in squad he probably will make it whether he sees much game time is another question.
For his sake I want him to go but wouldn't be overly upset if he didnt

That Japan manager can't be taken seriously though. Not picking Hatate is a sackable offense alone. Best midfielder in Japan by a country mile imo.

His overall play isn't the same as when he was flowing last year..

No by a long shot. The only time I've thought he looked like the player of last season was against United at Tannadice where it was a complete performance..

He was drifting in and out of games last season too

Before injury he was much more on it and involved..

This season overall he hasn't been dropping deep, linking the play and being amongst it enough. Still chipping in with the stats though as shown above..

Don't think he's at his best. No even close..

I agree that he hasn't been at his best this season but I can also think of quite a few games he wasn't involved in or played particularly well in last season pre injury.

I might be remembering wrong but he always seemed busy and involved in a lot of our good play....even missed quite a lot of chances at time's....but was fantastic overall..

I've no doubt he'll pick it up. He's class....he definitely needs to up it though..

Got that class hattrick at Tannadice but against one of the easiest defences at that time, he'll ever come up against..

3 in 8 besides that isn't all that..

My memory was the first block of games he played in he was electric, as you say scored a lot but also missed a fair few chances. That wasn’t that many games though like 5 or 6.

He then had that injury on international duty and missed a fair few games. He came back and played much like he has been recently few touches but a lot of important goals.

He had the odd game he looked brilliant at times but had a lot of quiet games where he nicked a goal but not much else.

He is a player that needs good service but can still be very important for us as shown by his other 3 goals all opening the scoring in those games which is the most important goal for us domestically as it means the team we are playing has to come out at some point.

He's been drifting out too much for my liking this season to the point where has become anonymous in some games - Great wee player but needs to get back to the level we know he can produce; its over to Ange to get that out of him again

Needs to be remembered with Rogic gone he isn't getting the same kind of regular service through the middle as he was first half of last season. The balls coming in from the wings are great but we need the same through the centre to get the best of our strikers. That's something for our current AMs fix and I'm sure they will work it out. As long as we keep flying down the wings then we can afford to be patient.

There isn't a * paper between him and Jacky Mackiss but both totally different strikers. Both offer different questions for defences and different options for us as a team. Not sure Kyogo has hit the great form of last season though. Yet.
