Would love him to make a return for Livi away as that fixture scares the * out of me. That may be wishful thinking though. If we could get him back for County at home that would be ideal! 20/30 mins that day then he’s all good to go on 3/4.

Agree, but would be good to know roughly when he would be expected to be back in possible contention. Don’t really see what’s to be achieved by keeping it quiet. Keep looking at Kyogo threads to see if they’ve been bumped with possible good news. Granted I’ve bumped this one with eff all. Apologies

As ArturBorucCSC said above, GG is the absolute man to have away to Livingston. Will * bully their defenders. He's the sort of player we have been crying out for when we are up against 11 men behind the ball.

 

Giakoumakis started against Livingston at home, and we put in cross after cross with absolutely no success at all. I think we need the opposite. Kyogo’s movement to drag their defenders all over the place is what we needed. If we start putting crosses in from everywhere like the home game, it shows that Livingston’s game plan is working. It’s unlikely Kyogo will be ready unfortunately though.

 

Giakoumakis is a different player now than he was then, absolutely full of confidence now.

 

No doubt about it. Putting balls into the box is exactly what Livingston want us to do though. It’s someone to move them out of their shape we need. Then if you look at the game away from home against them, when we created very little again, it was Ajeti up top, who’s movement is non-existent.

 

Yep lobbing balls into the box v Livi is just playing into their hands. We need clever movement, constant press etc. Kyogo would be the man for that if he’s fit enough. Wouldn’t really fancy him on that pitch first game back now that I think of it though.

 

Has there been any pics of him training at all recently?

 

He won't, but the ideal situation would be to play Maeda and GG together against them, this presenting them with the tougher/taller physical presence of GG to disrupt the defence and then the mobility and groundwork of Maeda to get in about them. Together they SHOULD be like a top version of Kyogo, present in 2 places at the same time - maximum disruption!

Ange won't do it though...

 

Kyogo Furuhashi 'doing well' in Celtic recovery as Japan boss provides injury update
Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi is "doing well" in his recovery from a hamstring injury and could return next month, Japan head coach Hajime Moriyasu has revealed.



Moriyasu travelled to Glasgow to meet Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou and some of his Parkhead-based international stars ahead of next month’s World Cup qualifiers.

He confirmed that Furuhashi, who has been absent since limping off against St Johnstone on Boxing Day, he has not yet been ruled out of the Australia and Vietnam double-header at the end of March.




Moriyasu said: "Kyogo Furuhashi is doing well in his recovery progress, but is not ready to play yet. His rehabilitation is going well


I'll look at his situation nearer the qualifiers and consider whether I will call him up."




Daizen Maeda was the only Celtic player called up for Japan’s matches against China and Saudi Arabia last month, but Moriyasu could include Reo Hatate, Yosuke Ideguchi, as well as Furuhashi, in his next squad.

"I met with 13 players in Europe and I wanted to visit the players who weren't in the last squad," he added.

"Those included Yosuke Ideguchi and Reo Hatate from Celtic.



There is limited time before the next two matches and I wanted to speak to as many of the players who could be in the squad as possible.

"I spoke with Ange Postecoglou too and the Celtic CEO. I am very proud of the success of Celtic's Japanese players because they have been delighted with them.

"Ange told me he understood the importance of the matches and he had been impressed with the way the Japanese team is improving and how we work with players."

 

Get tae *! No played in months and I bet Japan crocks him.

 

Don't think he will be back for a while yet, if he is not even training it could be another 4 or 5 weeks before we see him in the team. Back for our last home game against the wife beaters would be brilliant as that game will have a big say on who wins what.

 

Miss him dearly, he takes us up levels as a team.

As for Japan would be shocked if Hatate doesn’t get a call up next time out if their manager has watched our games.

 

ANGE POSTECOGLOU has revealed Kyogo Furuhashi is “nowhere near” a Celtic return.

And the Hoops boss says the Japanese striker faces a race to be fit for the derby clash with Rangers on April 3.

Kyogo has been out since Boxing Day with a hamstring injury and Postecoglou still has no time frame for his return.

Asked for an injury update, he said: “David Turnbull is almost back in training, but Kyogo is nowhere near it.”

Postecoglou spoke after Japan manager Hajime Moriyasu revealed Kyogo is a doubt for World Cup qualifiers with Australia and Vietnam in late March.

He said: “I wouldn’t put any time frame on it.

“Kyogo is working really hard to get back as soon as possible.

“Whether that is during the internationals or just after that, we’ll have to wait and see. It won’t be far off.

“I have a very good relationship with the Japan national team manager. I’ve known him for quite a while.

“He’s been really supportive of our stance, as we have been for his.

“Kyogo will be the driver for it, but I wouldn’t put any timescale on it.”

Kyogo is Celtic’s top scorer with 16 goals but has missed the last 11 games after limping off against St Johnstone before the winter break.

The £4.6million summer signing from Vissel Kobe first injured his hamstring against Real Betis on December 9.

He defied the odds to return for the Premier Sports Cup final against Hibs just ten days later, scoring twice.

But he then lasted just 15 minutes of the 3-1 win over Saints on Boxing Day and has been out since.

Postecoglou previously insisted his talisman will play again this term. But games are running out as Celts chase a Treble.

Japan boss Moriyasu visited him at Lennoxtown recently for a catch-up.

His side face Australia in Sydney on March 24, before hosting Vietnam on March 29 in Saitama.

Celtic’s Old Firm title showdown is five days later at Ibrox on April 3.

Moriyasu said: “Kyogo is doing well in his recovery progress, but he is not ready to play yet.

“His rehabilitation is going well. I’ll look at his situation nearer the time and consider whether I will call him up.”

Moriyasu also revealed Celtic duo Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi are in his plans, along with Kyogo and Daizen Maeda.

He said: “There’s limited time before the next two matches and I wanted to speak to as many of the players who could be in the squad as possible.

“I also spoke with Ange Postecoglou and Celtic’s CEO. I’m very proud of the success of the Japanese players there. They have been delighted with them.”
