Kyogo Furuhashi

Shouldn’t be happening. Simply cannot be so reliant on one player.

 

There could be hope for Celtic over the availability of Kyogo Furuhashi for February's Old Firm clash.

The Hoops take on Rangers on February 2, moved back exactly one month after the rejigging of fixtures due to three-week crowd restrictions from this Sunday.


Celts were one of ten Premiership clubs in favour of that outcome, but the downside is that the rescheduled matches now clash with some international fixtures.

Australia and Japan take part in Asian World Cup Qualifiers at that time, and Tom Rogic will almost certainly be called up for the Socceroos.


Kyogo would ordinarily be involved with the Japanese, but there could be a situation which means he remains available for Ange Postecoglou




Manager Hajime Moriyasu fears he will only be able to call-up domestic based players as a result of Covid guidelines in his own country, which would rule the Celtic striker out.




This has been the case for previous Japan squads, but the national team boss admits he is still waiting for guidance on the issue.


Moriyasu said: "I am very worried about the situation for the qualifiers.

"I have no choice but to follow the government directives for the games so I have to wait until nearer the ties to decide on the squad.

"We obviously want to select our strongest team and I hope to find a solution to the matter.

"The sooner the situation is concluded, the better it is for me to prepare."

 

Hopefully he aint away, try and get him fit but whilst he aint riddled with a bad injury history it aint his first lengthy hamstring layoff and he has missed not far off 1/4 of our games already.

Worrying statistic considering he is our only striker...... well only one I consider a striker.

 

Wow now that would be a first if this * pandemic actually helped us out for once.

This * Omicron * caused me to have to cancel my flights home for Christmas from Japan, cuz the Japanese were stopping people coming back into the country!
The least the * could do is extend that courtesy to their international players playing abroad.
