Obviously you need to find a buyer but really at this point selling him outright would be best for his career and best for us.

We are delighted to announce the loan signing of defensive midfielder Hyeokkyu Kwon!

The 23-year-old joins Hibs from fellow Scottish Premiership side Celtic for duration of the 2024/25 campaign.

Standing at 6ft 3’, Kwon joined Celtic in the summer of 2023 from K-League 2 side Busan IPark. He penned a five-year deal with the Hoops before spending the second half of the campaign on loan at St Mirren, where he was virtually ever-present.

Internationally, he has been capped by South Korea up until Under-23s earning 10 caps to date

On the loan signing, Hibernian FC Head Coach David Gray commented: “Hyeokkyu provides us with another option in midfield being able to play as both a deeper 6 and as an 8.

“As a player, he’s a great athlete, he’s very competitive, and comfortable on the ball. He showed these capabilities during an impressive loan spell last season.

“We’re delighted to bring him to the Club and look forward to working with him.”

Sporting Director Malky Mackay added: “We’re really pleased to make Hyeokkyu our ninth signing of the summer transfer window.

“He is another top professional to add to the First Team group, comes with a good pedigree, and adds a real presence on the pitch.

“We’d like to thank Brendan Rodgers and Celtic for the smooth handling of the move, and how quickly and efficiently we were able to get this deal done

Not every project is going to be a winner ffs, what do folk want? Just buy in £20M players and sell on after a year? Our bread and butter is buying young promising players and develop them to sell on.

If it aint broke don’t fix it.

Plus we sold Oh for a profit despitely barely playing and somehow got £2m+ for Lawal after one decent season in League 1. Kwon only cost £1m. Another good season at Hibs and we'll at least make our money back.

Not a bad loan for him, if he does well we could potentially sell.

To who though? He'll more than likely be on more wages than any other team in our league could afford and a decent loan spell at hibs isn't likely to entice many bidders from down south. I'd have preferred him going to league 1 or the championship down there, at least they could afford to buy him if he does well.

Saw someone on KDS say this "those loan restrictions exclude players aged 21 or under (e.g. Kenny, Murray), club-trained players of any age (e.g. Welsh, Montgomery, Johnston), and players of any age going to teams in the same country (e.g. Kwon to Hibs)".

So would still only be Bernie and Tilio if that's correct.

Genuine question, is your Kwon patter an elaborate joke or some sort of weird obsession? Never seen another fan go to such lengths to keep tabs on a player who will probably never make it here.

The name and pic is obviously a joke. Following him was just something I started doing out of boredom :giggle1:. Wouldn't say I go to crazy lengths, I watch a ton of football already so just started watching St Mirren games he played in last year. I'd watch other SPFL teams more if we loaned more of our players out to them.

It's not. For an exemption the player needs to be BOTH under 21 and have been at the club for 3 years from the age of 15.

On a side issue. Is Liam Shaw still at the club? If so then he needs moved on.

Kwon done well at St.Mirren last season, he was a fan's favourite. He has the height, physique and movement.
A good season at Hibs, and we could potentially sell.

You need to be both u21 and club trained tho so Murray is fine. Kenny isn't

Last chance for him to make a big enough impression to have a future here.

We'll know 100% where we stand with him next summer.

This is kind of confusing as you appear to be saying 2 completely different things here?

There is no limit on the number of players who are under 21 AND have been at the club 3 years since the age of 15. So Kenny will be one of the 6.

Edit: this is taken from the FIFA rules. I did bold the "and" part, that's what seems to confuse people, it's not one or the other, it needs to be both.

    18III. REGISTRATION OF PLAYERS
    7.
The loan of a professional will be exempt from the above limitations if:
    a) the loan occurs before the end of the season of the former club in which
    the professional turns 21; AND
    b) the professional is a club-trained player with the former club
