Agreed, problem is, Lenny trusts him and likes him as a player. Also Bolton is only ,what 2 hours down the road

 

Aye, he must also be wondering if his efforts are appreciated by the club.

Commons is the only flair player we have and it would be lunacy to let him leave .

There's nothing fancy or flairy (I know it's not a word) about him.

I would be reluctant to let Commons go because he is a thirty goal striker.
He can play both in the " hole " and on the wing, but I do feel he has to get himself fitter and more mobile, and even though he is now 30+ he can still do that if he applies himself.

 

At 31, is Commons' build something we may need to take into consideration if offering him a new contract ?

I'm thinking about Sir Alex Ferguson's quotes in regards to Wayne Rooney:

'Wayne is no Ryan Giggs. Ryan has never put a pound on in his whole life. Wayne is a boy that needs games, you can see that from the frame he's got. He is stocky, strong and really needs games, simple as that.'

I can't find the other quote from Ferguson, but it's something along the lines of Rooney being one of they players whose build means he'll struggle to keep his weight down in his thirties. Is Commons one of them ?

 

I have a feeling he will join Lenny in a playing/coaching capacity if not in January then the summer.

I would wish him all the best, he's been a great player for us.

 

he is * 31 and playing his best football ...ageism among fans is such a ricdiculous modern thing. ten or fifteen years ago nobody really thought about players ages ; larsson played his best football for us at age 30 , as did mcstay , lambert , sutton , lubo was far older. Commons has never relied on pace so will be good for another couple of seasons no bother . To say he will be moving into a coaching role at Bolton in january when he is celtics best player and has been for some time is * laughable. Guy can get over 30 goals from midfield and is by far our greatest attacking asset.

 

He also was helping in a coaching capacity under Neil before he left, and has talked of going to the moon to work for Lenny.

Just a feeling I have.

 

Would this be in a scouting role?

I can't imagine the standard of the moon league is that high. Sounds like Lennon is losing the plot.

Was. For one season because we didn't have a striker who was scoring goals.

Now we have Guidetti who is scoring regularly, as is McGregor. Commons shouldn't be starting, unless a player gets injured.
