When Commons has ever done anything when playing on the right? All he does in that position is cut in and try to shoot. Directness and Pace is what we need and Forrest has shown a lot more than Commons has, in that particular role. Commons shouldn't be starting right now. Simple as that.

 

We've never played him on the right in this formation, that's a fact. What we need in this formation is to get up and support the strikers and to play off of the players around you.

We need to finish off our chances while doing so.

Something Commons does far better. Directness and pace isn't something zi particularly care about, the best at this formation, their wide right is a man who just creates and scores a lot from midfield - Thomas Muller. That's what I would rather see.

Plus, Forrest will not stay fit.

 

Embarrassing from him tonight.

People will say well he scored but the amount of times he gave the ball away because he couldn't bring it under control with one touch or when we were on the break and he turns back and passes to the defence or gives it away.
Didn't try a leg tonight either and drags the overall team down when he plays.

We missed Johansen in that advanced role something awful. No just for attacking and creating but for his pressing.

 

I'm imagining Commons trying to go on the outside of a defender on the right side.

Forrest can go inside or out which is what makes him so dangerous on that side. Just my opinion but he has to play there if fit and firing. Commons is now in direct competition with Johansen and unfortunately, at this moment in time he's losing that fight. But he should be fit into the team at the expense of Forrest.

Comparing Commons to Thomas Muller. Even on a lesser scale is embarrassing btw.

 

When was the last time you saw Forrest succesfully take a man on the outside?

Apart from that, who do you think would create and score more in that position? On the evidence you've had on from they were both playing for Celtic?

I wasn't actually, I was comparing styles of play in this formstion and why it doesn't need 'pace and directness' and you know that Zander.

 

Commons similar player to Thomas Muller.

Heard it all now. There probably isn't a harder working footballer in the world than Muller fucksake :smiley-laughing002:. He can actually run, Commons can't.

 

No sure what James Forrest you've been watching over the last 2 years but its a totally different one from me. Hes went back the way, most of the time he receives the ball and instead of taking on the man he chooses to cut inside and pass than be direct and beat the man. Its like he's lost the confidence.

Would be great if he got that confidence back because a confident Forrest is as good as any player in our team.

 

This is it really, nothing much more needs to be said. On his role in the middle anyway.

On the right over Forrest? Not for me. Tonev has looked better last couple of games so I'd play him there if Forrest can't play. See if he has something about him. I'd certainly start over Commons over McGregor who I'd probably loan out again.

 

Tonev better than Commons? Jesus * man.

And Tonev over Commons as I would like to see Tonev get a run in the team as he's impressed me in the last couple of games.

 

Scored a goal and hit a worldy free kick that created the other but was * poor, mental..

Slowed everything down, terrible first touch and passing. Had plenty of the ball as well..

 

I think people are just confused you think tonev is better than Commons.

 

I swear to * people on here are mental. KC getting slated after scoring 1 and basically setting up one. He wasn't his absolute best granted but he is a dangerman and should be in the team.

I hope he has reminded our manager of how important he can be for us if we ditch his failed 451/433 experiment.

Imagine Commons at the tip of a diamond behind Stokes and Gudetti. Width provided by fullbacks and 3 workers in midfield behind him.

I said I'd like to see Tonev get a run in the team. As he's looked better himself. Not better than Commons.
