I dare say if the manager had said he seen a long term future for Commons then there would be a longer deal offered, so its the managers choice/fault.

Deila just said in his interview that he will be here till the end of the season whether he signs a new deal or not. Deila also said this decision will not be taken out of his hands.

I think he's a better player. Maloney has better technique but Commons is far more effective.

It's why Commons has more goals and assists from broadly the same position despite playing less games than Maloney.

Maloney has a better first touch though and a better weight of pass. Not a better player but, at least, not for Celtic.

 

Great servant but i think hes a wee bit to slow for the 4231.

 

He's over the hill and on his way down. I love Commons but he's 32 in August and if we gave him a new 2-year contract it will be as a bit-part player or 1st team.

If 1st team we will be looking to replace him soon anyway.

Commons isn't really a bit-part player either, he relies a lot on playing week-in week-out to be at his best. Something we have seen in previous seasons.

The problem is that no-one here knows any of the detail or what's going on behind the scenes, so instead the fill in the blanks so it fits their own predisposition and they can have a go. Not good.

 

Well, its not like Commons has featured regularly when he is fit ,so in my opinion its RD's call.

 

It's entirely simple really, Commons wants a two year deal, we want him to sign a one year deal.

 

If i had a choice of Commons or Maloney i would stick with Commons, when Maloney was with us he did pick up a few injuries that left him out of the squad for weeks or months at a time.

 

I can see it happening with some of the posts on this thread. The rewriting of history to downplay Commons contribution in the hoops. It happened with Lennon and now to Kris. Shameful.

 

Thing i don't get is why we are not offering Kris another contract but we want Maloney..surely Shaun's on more money right ?

 

He's not going to better last season where he scored nearly half of his goals for Celtic. That was his peak and he's past it now.
