Never really liked Commons tbh, not a team player at all. * at set pieces yet he absolutely insists on taking them. Punt him.

We can't keep defending Commons by his goals alone that was last year he scored all those goals under Lenny. He obviously dozen't like Deila and Collins's rigorous training and fitness methods, and his goals are drying up and he is beginning to look he is towing a caravan on the park.

He was terrible today but has been a fantastic footballer for us , and 80 percent of the time is our best player . Simple as that , should always be starting games but today needed different players around him . Works well with Mcgregor.

'has been' that's past tense, which doesn't mean he is great for the team in the present. And like I said he's not 'good' over-30, players like him slide quick.

No, just did the Google. Most people thought he tried whenthe mood struck or he was up for a new contract.

yes he has been a fantastic footballer for us us , in the same way diego costa HAS been a great signing for Chelsea. I use the past tense because all of the matches he has played for us have been in the past . For example , thursday night , scored the winning goal. He has been , and will continue to be a great player for Celtic .

Well if that's the criteria lets get McGrain back, definitely an upgrade over Izzy, and McStay as well, get a grip of that midfield.

Sorry but he will not continue to be 'a great player for Celtic play' like all players he will decline, the trick is to recognize and accept when it happens.

i dont mind commons but it is the position he is playing not himself that is the problem. he is played as near enough a number 10 playing off the striker leaving brown and johasson against 3 or 4 players and are just getting humped everytime it doesnt matter what 2 players you have if you put them against 3 or 4 they will struggle. commons needs to be played in the centre of midfield and be allowed to go forward but not constantly sit right up the pitch and put nothing into defence

what are you an about with mcstay etc :97:

He will continue to be a great player for celtic for at least another two seasons , he is 30 odd ffs. He hasn't started to decline yet at all , having the odd bad game doesn't mean a player is past it . People have developed a bias about player ages in the past few years that didnt exist ten years or so ago...alot of players produce their best football in their 30s. Commons has been our best player this season .

In this system, with the turgid way we're playing he like most others is low on confidence and struggling. I still think he has a role to play but unless we set the team up differently or Ronny has a dramatic improvement with this system then he will continue to struggle. However I do think he'll play the vast majority of games this season as Ronny sees him as a key player, so for those that want him dropped I think you could be waiting a long time.

We're playing pish just now and he's still top scorer as a midfielder. Commons isn't a problem.

He's been very poor, for me whilst he has tucked a few away, his overall play has been pretty shambolic to say the least.

The likes of him and Stokes don't merit a game at the moment, and would be best trying something out first and see if that changes thing or at least kicks them back into gear.

Commons whilst taking his goal brilliantly on Thursday, that was all he contributed, with the exception of that I honestly believe every other thing he done was a mistake. At the weekend, couldn't trap a bag of cement.

he isn't playing as a midfielder.

the amount of times he puts us under pressure by giving the ball away is ridiculous

Even though he's been off the boil he's still our top goal scorer.

Very true which says a lot about how bad we have been in font of goal.

No one particualr player seems to be on form at the moment but When commons plays well we always seem to win. I dont care what Forrest or Derby fans thought of him, hes been immense for us and at £300k he was an absolute steal. We hav floundered money on players who havnt even come close to his calibre. Hes dug us out of a lot of difficult situations with his goals and he should be one of the first names on our team sheet.
