He'll start. At home, we'll attack.

Deila stated at home we'll attack and dominate at home although you'd forgive him for playing more conservative in the first half of the second leg.

It's pointless playing a counter attacking game at home with only the away goal advantage.

Two goals required at home. I've seen enough of Maribor to know if they chucked the sink at us and with bad luck, they could sneak through.

So at home we should play our normal game with the backing we have and aim for two goals.

Good points. Who do you think would drop out from tonight? Berget maybe?

He certainly wasn't missed tonight. In the long term I'm not sure I see a future for Commons under Ronny Deila. A high tempo, pressing all over the pitch style of play isn't really suited to him. We need legs and energy in the middle of the park and in the wide areas and Commons doesn't provide either of those things.

You say that but it was Commons' energy and pressing up the park which broke the deadlock against St Johnstone which ultimately won us the game.

He will play a crucial role under Deila, as he has already stated.

I would have had him on for Stokes any day of the week.

    Totally agree.

Particularly with all the signings. We now have Tonev, Berget and possibly Wakaso who play a similar role to Commons. Can't see how he fits in.

I can't see Commons being left out of many of Deila's teams tbh.

Celtic are a better team with him in it.

The decision to drop him was justified. If Kayal was going to play, in my opinion, it could only be Commons to drop out. Big decision in the second leg wether to play him or not, because who do we drop if he starts?

You would play Commons as a lone striker? Really?

That's true, he did cause the first goal against St. Johnstone to come about.

I think it's interesting though that in a game like tonight where there was going to be more emphasis on pressing the opposition than playing with the ball he chose to leave Commons out. That probably gives a clue as to what Deila thinks about Commons work rate.

I don't think so, I think he was pulling off the man in the hole to have an extra man in midfield. Nothing to do with Commons work rate or ability. Purely tactical, we didn't have space for the attacking midfielder just behind the striker, so he our attacking midfielder who plays just behind the striker dropped out.

No doubt he's still one of our best players, look at our performance on the weekend for proof of that, just tonight was purely tactical and Deila got it spot on.

Most dependable player, if he relies on Stokes, Griffiths and Pukki for goals he's a silly silly man.

Will probably be our team in the 2nd leg.

He may not have the physical attributes of James Forrest but you do require, as a team, the potential to change style, Commons offers that.

If Commons can't adapt, fair enough,

If Deila can't adapt tactically, fair enough, he's not gonna be part of the short term future.

The answer is, we need a lone striker, and we now need to go out and splash some cash on one in my opinion.

Not for me mate. I would rather keep Berget out wide. He gives us an outlet if we are forces to go long also, as we have no height in our attacking players if Berget is left out. I think Commons days of playing as a winger are over. Only my opinion though.
