I said in the Commons to Villa thread I think he's a good passer but not a natural playmaker. I can't recall us having a natural advanced playmaker since Lubo and I do like Commons but I think getting a proper playmaker in is a must for us. At 29 I think it makes sense to sell Commons to try and do so.

Was thinking of Crosas pass for a Robbie Keane goal which was absolute World Class.

I'm meaning creative passing; Commons balls in behind and over the top of the defence are amazing, perfectly weighted. His ball for Mulgrew in Spartak for the 2nd goal was another example of that.

Aye it's creative passing I'm talking about as well :50:

He's definitely improved that aspect of his game immensely in the past year or so. A lot better at it now than what he was previously.

thats whats really good about commons he has got most of the qualities of a very good allround footballer good technically, good passer, good finisher and football intelligence, i.e. when to play a pass and when to hold it

it's an odd one cause in the rest of the world these are pre-requisites in order to be a footballer in britain strength and bravery and ferrociousness outmuscles the skilled and technical qualities although it is changing ,,,, slowly

naka would have been a beast of a player for us in the centre of midfield

the only thing is i dont ever think he would have played central in a 4 man he only would have played central in a 5 man midfield

    edit

wait a minute didnt he score a hatrick against united at tannadice surely he was central midfield or attacking midfield that game ?

Like I said, Naka was probably better but he was shackled to the wing and hardly got the opportunity to play a killer pass.

He was right wing that match. The only time he had a more central role and it was more just allowed to come inside because of the protection Robson or Hartley offered.

    Commons what do you think?

I love him then i dont.I dont realy know where i stand with him, he can be greedy and a passenger then he's capable of real brilliance. Is he essential to our team or can we live without him,can he be disruptive or a good member of a excellent squad.Would you be ok about moving him on or would you want him to stay?

I didn't rate him or want him anywhere near our team when we were first linked with him but since he has came in he has made me eat my words and is definitely an essential member of this team like every player they have off days I'm sure if he plays on Tuesday w will see a much improved performance compared to yesterdays and that goes for the whole team

I love the guy but he wouldn't be in my first choice midfield.

Been one of our beat players this season. Done well when he came on against Barca as well.

    Was awful yesterday though.

Commons would never be in the first 11 if I was manager. Once again yesterday when everything is not going our way he goes missing. He's alright when we're dominating teams. Lost the ball upteen times yesterday.

He's huge to us. Would hate to lose him. You could take anyone out our starting 11 and replace them and we could get on fine. But he's a quality very clever player
